2000 Yamaha Banshee. Built 4mm Stroker motor by Kevin Herr, Aggressive trail port work, DMC Alien Pipes, Trinity 2 into 1 38mm Carb, Noss Cool head w/ 22 domes, +2+1 lonestar A-arms, +2 extended tubular swingarm with round carrier, dura blue axle, powdercoated frame, new wheel bearings, new stator, new chain, all new bolts. ... Completely rebuilt from frame up. Bike is in great shape but not a garage queen. I built it to ride and rode trails but no longer have the time. VERRRY Strong motor. I acquired this banshee several weeks ago and was going to restore it but I've decided just to sell the complete package. I was told it is a 2001 model but I am unsure. It has some surface rust as it was stored in a barn. It was locked up when I got it but have since got the jugs off. It'll need new rods and pistons at the least. Everything on the bike looks pretty much stock. I do have the blue plastic that came on it. It still had TORS. It does have a cool head but no domes. T5 pipes. No title. I have some things left over from a previous build that I'll include with this package. Head studs, O-ring kit, clutch cable, adjustable timing plate, several rims and tires. I do not want to piece it out. I want to sell the whole package. Bike is located in Lebanon, KY. It would make a great project! I found a pretty decent deal on craigslist today. 2001 that has been sittin in a barn for probably over a year. Motor is going to have to be rebuilt and it needs a good cleaning but I ended up getting it for $600. I had good spark too when it happened to me. It still fired but it was out of time. It would run really rough and then die. Then when I would kick it some more it would backfire and pop. My key had gotten messed up but was still there. It was just a few fractions out of time and did the same thing. Good luck.

Have you checked to make sure it hasn't sheered the flywheel key and jumped time? Mine did after a rebuild and would only run for a few seconds and constantly backfire while trying to get it started. Just my .02.

Have you checked to make sure you didn't shear your key for your flywheel? Mine did the same thing your talking about. Ran and then just died. Was getting fuel and spark but would backfire after a few kicks. Turned out the key sheared and it had jumped timing. Took the flywheel off and re-aligned it where it was suppose to go and started first kick. Worth taking a look at if I were you.
