  1. If the pistons are the right ones and installed correctly the onlny thing I can think of is that you aren't getting any air in the cylinder, if you were to cap the carbs completely your compression would be really low, maybe a rag in the reed boots to keep dirt out or maybe your son left his plastic easter eggs in the open carbs cuz he hid them there and forgot. oh wait that was my sone I got confused for a moment.
  2. I am just finishing a complete build up, crank trued&welded by trinity, wiseco pistons .030 over on fresh bore, stock head milled .030 toomey T5 pipes and silencers proflo filter. I have an adjustable timing plate which I ran at +3deg. now that the head has been shaved and fresh rebuild I didn't know what to set the timing at. I generally run only premium 93 octane primixed w/AMSOIL dominator synthetic 50.1 ratio. I am geared low and would like this to build more on the topend. would 4deg be better or to much for the octane I prefer. Also will the rings seat with synthetic oil or should I break in with something else? thanks in advance
  3. Another thing that may be causing your problem if the ports in the cylinders aren't chamfered the rings can slightly hang up on them which forces the piston to rock against the skirt I have seen this happen on perfectly bored cylinders that the machine shop failed to chamfer. I have also seen a set of wiseco pistons put in cylinders that were worn beyond specs (we were at the glamis dunes and wanted to run one more day) run for 6 months of hard riding all I did was use a stone hone to break the glaze and then chamfered the ports a little more and away we went. I pulled the motor apart after 6 months since it was to hot to ride anyway. I myself was shocked to find perfect pistons. I actually wished I hadn't torn it down I just figured it was beyond the limits. I may be the only person that thinks not chamfering could be the cause but it's worth taking a look at.
