  1. .. like you said the 4 strokes are getting real fast ... take it from a dummy like me ... i went out and bought every possible bolt on part i could buy ... v force 3 ... cool head 20cc.. timing plate.... k&n...etc .etc .. now that i know a little better .. i would listen to most replys youve gotten so far and get a nice port job and build around that ... And dont forget when and if you decide to go with a cool head and timing and such you have to start either going 50/50 with race gas or running straight race gas (depending on how much timing and dome size)which is a pain in ass and not to mention $$$$ ..
  2. ..... You may think im off on my assumptions but im just trying to remember if any banshee won a technical closed course race ? .. I rememeber in the late 80s and 90s all you ever read in the winners column was a trx250r.. Im sure if some one digs up some stuff they will find an occasional win here and there but i dont think in the future you will ever hear anyone ever talking about what a great mx bike that banshee was ,wish they still made em .... Dont get me wrong the banshees are competitve in races like the baja 500/1000 and they won the 12 hours of pont de vaux ..... But on tracks where the holeshot is half the race a banshee will rarely win .. im not trying to argue or put banshees down .. I was just saying i now get it ... im never gonna beat up on a 450 in the trails and then still be able to dog him in a drag ... you can try and build a bike to do both but why try .. buy a 4stroke 4 the trails and take the 7mil out to race ... I see alot of posts on here about loosing to 4strokes and everyone is like ...gotta be the rider ... I dont know where you guys ride but these things are getting real quick ..the guy with 450 im dying to beat would catch alot of you by suprise .. the thing leaves like it was shot out of a cannon .. and while we are burning up the tires through 1st and 2nd hes got a nice 5 bike lead on ya .. (on dirt) i know after my motor rebuild im gonna get him by 3rd or 4th .. i hope ..
  3. BTW.......I would have given jeff from fast a call but i read all the posts on here saying how backed up with work he is .. While this must be due to his great work, and may make people want his work even more ,id bet it scares just as many from even call him..as they dont want a few months down time during peak season ..
  4. ............I dont know if this coment was directed at me but .. i am by no means a kid ... im 36 yrs old with 2 kids a house and a dog ... any money im putting into this money pit was worked for .. As for the direction im going with this bike i realize it will no longer be a good trail bike .. but you know what... it never was .. never will be and never could be .. .. Banshees were never a good trail/mx bike since they were made .. People and companys with unlimited money have tried to race em on a track and come up short .. when every one was racing 2 strokes the trx 250r has always handed banshees there ass on the track...and now the 450s are doing the same on the trails ... So while i know my choice of motor is gonna make it more trail unfriendly I guess ill have to wait for that straightaway to pull on side em an absolutley destroy any 4 stroke near me .. And you know what if i wanna continue riding a banshee ive come to realize that all its really good for any way ...line em up and let go !!!
  5. update on my on going quest to whip this 450 .... Is this a fair price ? .. install . 7mm Stroker Crank, Wiseco Pro Lite Pistons, all new gaskets and seals, drag port cylinders, port match cases, bore cylinders, lighten flywheel, port reed cages, window pistons, cut cases for stroke, 2300 ... labor included .. ? ... i found a pair of cpi small bore inframes barely used with silencers for 350 .. now i just need to get new carbs .. theey are telling me i have to run 34s ... ? i was hoping on spending 1500 ... that was a joke ... when im done im gonna be about 3 grand deep .. what kinda HP do you guys think ? .. 1 more quick ? should i be alright only going +2 on the swingarm ?
  6. im a lil depressed now .... and your right ... all my friends switched over to 4 strokes ... i ve spent alot so far trying to hang with em in the trails ... denton a arms .. works triple rates .. .stainless lines .etc... .. and you know what they still outhandle me and out brake me .. But for some reason i cant let this 2stoke thing go .I love the way they sound and the power feels .. I get on my friends 700 raptor and it feels like a lazy boy recliner .. I guess i like the crudeness of the banshee .. that violent hit of the powerband you cant get with a a4stroke ..... while you are right ill never beat them at there own game .. i cant give up ... it might cost me to much in the end but ...IM GONNA WHIP THAT 450 !
  7. the swingarm i would be willing to go up to a +2 or so .. i ride alot of trails and tight woods and wanna be able to turn .. as for clutch i just spent over 1000 on a complete hinson set up...(9plate inner hub) .. im hoping this will handle the power ..
  8. would a 4mm stroker kit, new carbs maybe 34s ?and a set of cpi or shearers do the trick 4 me .. ? the stroker kit complete with pistons should run 750 (new) or so ...the pipes run about 4-500(dont care if i find em used) ... the carbs i could pick up off ebay 4 like 3-350 ? this would put me close to my 1500 range .. and i could sell the used parts to cover the labor hopefully .... is any thing else needed to run a 4mm stroker ? and im hoping this set up would rip any 450 i come across ...
  9. i think the 56 hp # the guy said is bullshit ..gotta be more... this guy is like a lil fag .he doesnt wanna tell anyone anything bout his bike .. ( some of my friends ride 4 stroke and were trying to get some info out of him to make there bike a lil faster and he woudnt tell em anything ) he wants to follow us around and shit but wants to get all secretive bout his bike .. I HATE GUYS LIKE THAT !!! I must beat him
  10. ok ... out riding today and the "new guy " shows up again ... starts feeling comfortable and starts telling us what hes got ... 520 stealth kit ? stroker crank .. bigger carb .. programable ignition .. curtis sparks exhaust .. new cam ..etc.etc.. said hes into the motor 1000s .. any way he beat me again ... that thing is a fukin animal off the line .. its not my riding i beat any 700 there .. 660s 450s the same .. IM PISSED ... i rided a fukin banshee ... cant loose to a 4poke ... I got a 1500 budget .. whats my next move ... ? I REFUSE TO LOOSE !!!!!!
  11. ...yea i meant frresh top end bored 40 0ver ... as far as the port job .. dont know who did it but my mechanic said its was done nicely and its not that aggresive of a port job ... what ever that means .. im going to a swap meet today in english town nj ... gonna pick up the new front sprocket .. who knows what else im gonna find .. btw .. i shouldnt have lost on the street .. my air pressure was off so i was pulling hard to the left and had to get out of the throttle a lil bit .. he wouldnt rematch
  12. need help .. raced the "new guy" in our riding group... 06 450.. said it had some cam work and other stuff .. said he was pushing 56 hp to the wheels .. he destroyed me off the line . got me every single time .. raced on the street once and it was much closer .. my bike .... 2000 shee .. ported .. 40 over .. 20cc cool head.. +4 timing .. hinson clutch...fmf pipes .. .. should i mess with the gearing or is it gonna cost me alot more then that ?.. i was gonna buy a 404 kit but some one said they are a waste ..
  13. When is anyone going out to manchester ? ...... cops chased us outta Monroe trails this weekend (maybe cause it was saturday and we usually ride on sundays } and we need a new place to ride... how are the cops in manchester.. ? .

Is there any way to properly fix a cracked subframe?.. one side completely snapped about 5 inches from the end..right between the first and second mounting hole for the grab bar... the other side is stressed pretty bad ...i probally could snap it off with my hand .... I have already had this problem once and had it repaired but either it was a bad weld job or im bad at wheelies .. I would like to get this fixed right for the last time ...any suggestions?
