they didnt look terrible but the oil did look like something was up with the clutch and the basket was pretty grooved the bolt that adjusts the shift shaft what does that actually do? i was messing with that a little bit not really sure if it is right or not i know you said that probably not the cause but i am just trying to cover all my bases before i tear the motor down

ok does this sound like the most likely culprit? i have eliminated just about every other thing- shift star, clutch, inner clutch hub and clutch basket so that pretty much only leaves the forks right?

thats the thing i dont really know i am just replacing the easy things right now and hoping for the best but i am starting to lean towards there being bigger issues so now my question is is it possible to just replace the forks or do i need to do the whole tranny over?

so do you think i should put in a madded shift shaft while im at it?

ok so i replace my clutch basket today it shifts a little bit better but still wont shift to great do you think i should try the fast shift shaft mod or just bite the bullet and replace the tranny?

ok i bought a 02 which was shifting hard so i put in a new clutch and modded shift star but it is still shifting hard as in wont shift underpower but if i let off and pull the clutch, and coast then it will shift my questions are will a grooved clutch basket do this? and the adjustment by the the shift arm will this cause hard shifting if it is out of adjustment? and if so what are the specs to adjust it by? thanks paul

yup that is the right socket i just did my shift star this week you need to use a impact to get it loose though it is a pretty easy mod to do

ok i took it all apart today and found a couple things one the clutch is worn pretty bad, the adjustment for the clutch was loose, and the piece on the end of the arm that grabs the star the spring in it seems pretty weak anyway i got everything out so far except for the star my next question is the shift shaft has to come out first correct?

hey i just got a 02 it and i have a problem with hard shifting when i am shifting under power most of the time it wont go into a higher gear but if i ride the quad normal as in letting off the gas and pulling the clutch slowly it will shift i ordered a modded shift star from fast today and hope it fixes the problem what do you guys think? anyone have any experiance with this and have any tips? thanks paul

i know you said you replaced the head gasket once already if it was me i would check the head and make sure it is not warped at all causing your new gasket to leak again

how much for the nerfs and front bumper?

how much for the nerfs and carbs? are the carbs in good condition?
