whats wrong with the gm front suspension?
-
I went to dodges website and the numbers for the dodge are lower, 305 hp and 325hp with 610 ft lbs of torque. not like it's a real noticeable difference. I see the 5.9 is still offered as well, the new 6.7 is the one with the exhaust brake.

taken straight from GM about the tow/haul mode which also includes grade braking. i use this everytime i tow and it's a great feature. Tow/Haul Mode Tow/Haul mode significantly changes the transmission shift pattern to reduce shift cycling and to deliver better performance, control, and cooling when towing or hauling heavy loads. For instance:

slides are good and correct, i checked again and rechecked sync. I'm going to run it tomorrow and see what happens.

forgot to mention the plugs both looked very rich when pulled for the compression test. Slides are correct (to my knowledge) and they both move freely. I removed the carbs one at a time so the bowls are on the carbs they came from. Choke tube is connected, i double checked. Now this may be a stupid question but i have to ask it anyway... if one cylinder isn't firing whats the best way to know? Does it give off a funky sound? Honestly it has the very fast ping that 2 strokes make and it revs up pretty good. It's just the smoke on the left side compared to the right that has me wondering. i really wanna just run it up the street and see if it needs to be cleared out but i'm worried that it may blow....

Yes, 12,000 lbs at the hitch and 16,700 with a fifth.

the duramax's are puting out 360hp 650ft lbs torque. The allisons have a trans brake feature called grade braking. Similar to a exhaust brake except completly different  Also, the allisons are 6 speeds with the largest towing capacity for 3/4 and 1 tons. At my dealer we have 2 07 "classics". Those have the 100k powertrain and have the LBZ motor WITHOUT all of the nasty 07 emmisiions. Personally thats the way to go. But you would have to be ready to do it now because we are now getting 07 new body styles. Also, the allisons are 6 speeds with the largest towing capacity. I saw a commercial on the 07 or 08 fords. Apparently the F450 can handle 24,500 lbs towing. THAT IS INCREDIBLE.

Ok, long story short i bought an 04 banshee with pro circuit exhaust, K&N's on the carbs. From a dead stop it will die on me if i don't have it very high on the rpms, after that it runs great. I did a compression test and have 120psi at both cylinders. Right side smokes a lot less then the left until revved up for about 10 seconds (before) I was told it could be pilots clogged. Pulled carbs, pulled main jets and put in new ones (same - 280) and cleaned out the pilots. I did not have a screwdriver to pull the pilots out. Attempted to remove the needle and couldn't do it ( don't know how). Bolted it all back up with new plugs and kicked and kicked and kicked..... no fire. Tapped carbs and it fired right up. Left side is smoking bad and right side barely puffs when revved. I did the carb sync - no change. I'm wondering if i need to just get on it and run it up the street to clear it out but i don't want to hurt anything. I have TORS still hooked up, i am undecided on it. I am brand new to banshees, my kx450 is my pride and joy and this is for the times when i wanna just go all out and piss people off with the obnoxiousness. i have a big group getting together on the 23rd of march and i'm hoping this bad boy is running superb. I bought some new replacement pod filters along with outerwears and a jetting kit so i'm ready to do whatever it takes. The new pod filters are replacing the old pod filters, i have not changed anything on this shee. Thansk for any help you guys can offer. I bought this shee at sea level and it will be ridden at 4500 ft. Also, according to K&N's specs i need to be at #4 on the needle, 280 mains and 2.5 turns out (my current settings) I found on another website i should be at stock position with the needle, 340 mains, 30 pilots, and 1.5 turns out...... so confusing!!!

I'd go with a new chevy or GMC. The "new" LMM motor is the same as the previous LBZ only it has all the emissions garbage on it now. All 07's will have the new emissions stuff so keep that in mind. Gm has been testing their new stuff for a few years now and are the only ones that are on track to pass the 2010 emissions. So keep in mind GM tests their stuff. Ford threw out the 6.0 to get by with the emissions for those few years, the 7.3 wouldn't make it (excellent motor by the way). Ford is now stepping up with the new 6.4 to meet current emissions (bit them in the ass last time). Keep in mind too that caterpillar came out with dual turbos for their big rigs and that had many many flaws. Ford is nowhere near the abilities of CAT. So keep in mind, you get a ford with a new motor you may not drive it much. Now the dodge has a great motor, obviously. But thats it, interiors are nasty and exteriors are not my style but look decent. Trannies are garbage, they have had the 4 speed for a while now and are finally stepping up with an all new tranny ( i wouldn't trust it yet). Keep in mind too if you go with a dodge mega cab, 90% of fifth wheels are now out of your range, they do not fit with the tiny ass bed. So, my opinion is to go with a GMC / Chevy. They have the new body style, allison tranny that can handle another 100 horses on top of what it comes with, Very nice interior with the exterior begging for a lift and bigger tires. 100,000 mile powertrain warranty that nobody else can touch. My next truck would be the dodge for the simple fact that they have a cummins. Third and dead last would be the ford for the simple fact they finally got rid of the 6.0 and anything will be better then a 6.0. Plus you can tell everyone you have a twin turbo, it may be in the shop but you have one :-) i'd go for a 3/4 ton crew cab regular bed. 1 ton will be a stiffer ride and is only needed if you are towing very big. Just so you know i currently drive an 05 GMC Sierra SLE with the dura/alli combo. It's lifted 6" with 35s and is a ton of fun to drive. Duramax motor is a proven motor has been changed every two years and gets better each time. Oh and also i'm a duramax tech so i am partial to the duramax but i do my research. I also worked at a ford dealer and those trucks are garbage !!!!

I do not know much about what pistons are good for what but i talked to trinity racing and they recommended wiseco pro lites for my desert riding... Could it have possibly been installed wrong, or the wrong piston used?

it will make you use the money in your account.... I think the only way around it is make another name, transfer the money over to that account. Pay your $30 and then refund your money back from the second account. Don't "send" payment back, you need to actually do the "refund" so you don't get charged...

ya the hos seems like a total geek trying to be mr. tough guy. I was busting up when i saw the spill..... what a dumbass. Heres a video for those that haven't sen it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=bMSqJva20-o

i actually got a chance to meet the owner of AC racing and walk through the shop. AMAZING shop !!! I picked up some nerfs for my chicks blaster along with rims and tires. I had no fitment issues and it disapoints me that you did, They really are a great shop and i am sure if you sent an email or made a call they would make this right for you.

I'm a duramax tech at a gmc dealer.... be careful what you do. You are limited to 100 extra hp on the tranny. i run a 4" all the way back with hypertech on 3. NO PROBLEMS. Go mild and just get an exhaust with hypertech and you'll be fine. As mentioned before an EGT gauge (pyrometer) is a must !!!!

Installing these parts and have questions

rejet carbs richer -
ok thats what i thought... just wasn't sure if anything would fall out like a spring or anything, thanks.
-
absolutley i'll clean them. How do i get the top disconnected? i don't want to just start tearing into this blindly..... Where the cables come in. Also, i want to paint the carb bodies... is that ok or is that a bad thing?
-
I pulled off my air filters and they are not even oiled.... they are actual K&N's with outerwears. Outerwears are torn and the K&N's are in rough shape. So i started to pull the right side bowl off and realized... i need a jet kit. So i went on ebay and just got a complete K&N kit with new filters, outerwears and a jet kit. So i am going to check all jets just so i can see what is actually in this banshee. I'll keep ya informed on what i find. I also want to note that there was some slight oil / fuel residue in the carbs. I'm assuming it could have been from the compression test but i don't know.
-
no worries.... Hopefully someone has some answers for ya. Just an update... I priced out new top ends and what not and decided to go with trinity racing to do all my work. Got everything set up with them for some wisecos, boring and assembly. Came home to yank the motor and decided to test one more time. 120 psi on both cylinders.... SHIT !!! I guess my next step is to cancel with trinity ,yank the carbs and see what we have for jetting.... I was thinking of getting a new head anyway so maybe i'll just get a trinity head as well.... i dunno, but this sucks i thought for sure i had my prob figured out... now back to the beginning.
-
I have come across a complete top end, my compression is at 90psi and needs to be one. I would like to have 2 sets of cylinders and heads taht way i can just swap over and not wait for the machine shop time.... So, i came across this : set of standard bore banshee cylinders off of a 2004 350 twin these are trail detailed ported very minor basically cleaned up with a cylinder head that has had .075 surfaced off it with the squish recut to enhance performance also they come with a set of pistons rings circlips top end bearings and wrist pins these cylinders are nice take a look upgraded to cheetah motor is reason for removal..can be used on 350 standard and 4 mil strokers as well Does this sound like a decent deal at $300? I will be doing strictly desert riding for now and i have full pro circuit exhaust with K&N's on the carbs...
-
ok, 90 psi on both cylinders..... and spark plugs appear to be very rich !!! I also found out the altitude at which it ran poorly, 4200ft (where it had the stumble) At sea level it ran very well, both altitudes though it hard the stall on the start feel. ~~~~ just popped into my head.... i wonder if the previous owner retarded the timing for all top end..... I know my compression is a little low but i don't think it would make it so it's about to stall....
-
gearing is 14/41. Let me know what your thoughts are on that gearing because i have no clue. It's a desert runner. I'm gonna go attempt to do a compression check right now, we'll see if i actually get a chance to....

i sold an xbox on ebay a while back. I took a bunch of pictures of it including the serial number, evn pics of it in the box to be shipped. The guyfiles a complaint to paypal and paypal immediatly took the money back. The guy said it looked like i had thrown it across the street before i shipped it. He then got my info and constantly called me. I gave paypal my pics and let them know he was harrasing me and all of a sudden the guy stopped calling me and i got my money refunded... not sure what happened but it all turned out ok, i guess.... So, good luck to you.
-
it means he will be calling you shortly.....
-
it would have a lack of power though wouldn't it? One guy on a 450 told me he's beaten stock banshees before. When we went he was clearly left behind, we started on a roll though at the bottom of first. But anyway i can pull a compression check just to see... maybe tomorrow.
