I had Kenda Klaw's on my 400ex and they were a really good tire and bit really good but I'm thinking they might actually bite too much for the shee. I mostly ride on dirt trails, a grass dragstrip at my buddies house, and just puttin around on some gravel roads. Otherwise I use paddles in the sand. I also don't weigh but 140 lbs. so I dont put alotta pressure on the tires. I'm open for any suggestions. Thanks!

Ok, I figured the one on the crankcase side would be leaking oil into the motor and then burning it off, not air?
-
Alright thanks, so those wouldn't be ones that would be leakin air would they?

# 13 and 11 on which schematic? That doens't take me directly to any photo.
-
So it'd be #3 on here: http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/show...t_id~400412.asp The oil seal?
-
Thanks for the links and all the help guys. I'm gonna go over a few simple things 1st like carb adjustments and see if it might be that. If it's not that i'll start checkin seals. I just read this in another thread and thought it might apply to my case...would this work for me to check for air leaks? "You could take the plastic cover off of the flywheel side and then start it up. Get some starting fluid and spray it behind the flywheel why it is running. Listen for an rpm change. You could also spray it around carb boots and base gaskets to check them as well." ****Also, if my tranny side crank seal was leaking wouldn't it be pulling tranny oil in and burning alot off on the right side? I'm just trying to figure out ways to check this w/o having to buy/build a leakdown tester. Sorry to add more to this but is the seal yall're talkin about #8 on this schematic? http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/show...t_id~394457.asp

Well gee I'm guessin not everyone has one of these pumps around either...guess we'll see what I find this weekend.
-
So the consensus seems to be that I ruined a seal somewhere (crank seal?). How would I go about checking these? Are they gaskets and where exactly is the crankseal or which one's should I check? And yeah I wasnt too worried about the choke, just figured I'd mention that. Is that crankseal on the waterpump side?
-
It has stock carbs. I have noticed that the choke will not stay open when I pull it out, I have to hold it out while I kick it a few times.
-
I'm gonna do some searching this weekend, i'll try to get back on what we find.
-
I took the air filter off to make sure the carbs were opening in sync and from what i could see they are, and it also looked like they were closing too (from what I could see from this angle). How would washing the quad do something to a gasket?

I just traded for a banshee and am havin a few problems with it. #1 i went and washed it off GOOD at a carwash and it didn't like that too much so after the stator dried out (and I undid all the TORS stuff) I finally got it to start. Now the cylinders don't seem to be hitting evenly, but it still seems to run/pull hard so I don't think it's anything too bad. Also when I went to ride it today and would pull the clutch in and rev it up it would not go back down to idle rpm's until i let the clutch out and put the "power" back on the tranny I guess you could say. Like I said the only thing I did was wash it so I know it's not something big, but any help is appreciated.

I'll be there Oct. 7th with my banshee, my buddy with his shee, and his dad on his warrior. Hopefully there'll be quite a few people there!

Very helpful guy on the forums too, just helped me get mine started....damn TORS Cheers Chase

Banshee didn't like getting powerwashed
okbeast replied to okbeast's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ok, disconnected all the tors shit and checked the left plug 1st...it had a really weak fire (could see it a bit but didnt feel it) so went to check the right. Kicked it a few times and finally got some fire (felt it bigtime). So I hopped on and started kicking the shit out of it, it would try to start a few times then go back to nothing....and finally it fired up. Problem now is that it's idling HIGH and not consistent at all. What now? Wait, I adjusted the throttle way out when I got it b/c he said it wouldn't idle...maybe that's it, be right back. Well adjusted the throttle back in and that fixed that. It's still runnin a little rough but I'm thinkin the plugs might be fouled from all the kickin and no fire. It's also stayin revved up a bit longer then I think it should when you give it gas, but it still eventually comes back down to the right idle rpm, what is causing that? -
Banshee didn't like getting powerwashed
okbeast replied to okbeast's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I read through it yeah but I'm up at school and don't have time to completely tear it out. What can I just "disconnect" to disable it to see if that's the problem, and if that fixes it can I just leave it disconnected (and the bike run right) until I have time to pull it off. -
Banshee didn't like getting powerwashed
okbeast replied to okbeast's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Just went out and checked to see if the stator was dry and when I took the cover off I saw a bunch of condensation in there, so I propped the cover open and hopefully it'll dry out. Before that I checked to see if I had spark and still didn't, so I'm guessing wet stator is the problem right now. -
Advantages of FULL advanced timing?
okbeast replied to [email protected]'s topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Also curious on this...I've heard/read alot of different views, including one that stated increasing the timing helped out the low-end? -
Is the timing plate Pro Design?

Banshee didn't like getting powerwashed
okbeast replied to okbeast's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
So what's the difference in the TORS eliminator kit and what you describe there? P.S. Tried starting it again today when everything is dry and it still won't turn over. I'm going to check and see if I'm getting fire later. If the TORS is acting up would i not be getting fire? -
Banshee didn't like getting powerwashed
okbeast replied to okbeast's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I'm guessin it's just a wet stator. I forgot to mention that when we tested the plugs the right one (when sittin on bike) did fire the 1st time we tried it, but after we switched the plugs around to see if that would change anything it didn't fire. I'm guessin its just got some water where it doesn't like. I guess I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and what have you done to fix it? -
Traded my 400ex for a banshee yesterday and it was a bit dirty still (and I'm really anal) so I took it to the carwash and washed the crap out of it. I sprayed degreaser all over it and washed it for about 10 minutes probably, then flipped it up on end and washed the underneath. I then went out and tried to start it today, and nothin, checked the plugs for fire and I'm not gettin anything. I took the stator cover off and it's a bit wet inside, could this be the reason it's not gettin fire? Any advice is appreciated!

whats the best bend for handlebars on a banshee
okbeast replied to peterlocal22's topic in Product Reviews
I like my bars on the 400ex. If I ever need new bars for the shee, i'll probably get this bend just cuz I'm used to it and like it. -
I've got some sand skate II v-blades and like them, they're kinda pricey tho but I got 'em for a good deal.
-
I'd definately go powdercoat since it's the footpegs and will get alot of wear.
