Need opinions of timing for my 421 cub, i was told to go to +8 but then was told to go back down to +4.. just shoot me some of your opinions and experiences with this motor.. thanks

my elevation is 2000 ft above sea, and im runnin 34 pjs, wiht cpis, and i just put some diff jets in it, i have 42 pilots and like 145 mains, and my screw is 2 turns out and my clip is on the 4 spot..... ill fire it up tommorrow and see were im at then....

shit man if you wernt in nevada i would trade you my 421 cub, been lookin for a bike but sounds like you just want to get rid of the engine,

well im runnin a cool head and i jsut talked to a builder and he said it sounds like ive got to much gas going into my cylinders, and my other set did this same exact thing, before my cub set up, and i had a stock head with that one that was worped, so maybe he is right, who knows...

well i have the barnett clutch kit, springs and all, my jetting is in the ballpark of 45 pilot and 150 main, my needle is a C series and its on the middle clip.... and now i just looked into the intake and at my domes and it acts like antifreeze is getting into my cylinders because the oil is real watery and the tops of the pistons arent dry like they are supposed to be... any more help would be really appreciated

no i havent done a leak down test, or anything like that... and my ignition should be good but you never know.... i guess i still have alot of work ahead of me on this damn thing...

well thanks fellas was just a little concerned bc of how everyone talks awesome about these motors.. but im sure its the jetting and the clutch bc my fibers dont even have grooves in them like they're supposed to... but ill get my timing back down and tune some more and let yall know... thanks alot..

OK, I JUST PUT MY 421 CUB TOGETHER AND STARTED TO BREAK IT IN AND AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE SOOOO POWERFUL, BUT THE MORE I GOT INTO IT THE LESS I WAS IMPRESSED WITH IT.... YEAH I KNOW SOUNDS STUPID!!! BUT ANYWAY I HAVE FRIEND THATS A BUILDER AND HE TOLD ME TO LOWER MY TIMING DOWN TO 6 DEGREES INSTEAD OF 8.. AND WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT IT DIDNT EVEN WANT TO PULL WHEELIES ON A +4 SWINGER HE TOLD ME THAT EITHER I WAS SHREADING MY TIRES OR THAT MY CLUTCHES WERE SLIPPING,, I HAVE NOTICED THAT I NEED NEW FIBERS BUT WOULD THEY BE SLIPPING THAT BAD THAT I WOULDNT BE IMPRESSED WITH THIS MOTOR... EVERYONE I HAVE TALKED TO HAS SAID WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT THE CUBS SO MAYBE IM JUST LOOKING OVER SOMETHING SMALL.. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU ALL THINK... THANKS

thanks for all the help guys, i was just trying to get some pointers because i bought a used 4 mill and i decided to put new bearings on... but after reading all of that ill prob just let my local shop do them for me...thanks for all the input..

do the main crank bearings have to be pressed on and also just wondering how to get them off without messin anything up> thanks for any help....

ill take your o ring kit from you if you would be willing to let it go!!

Like topic says, need NEW set of main crank bearings, or just one for the clutch side aftermarket or not...just bought 4 mill and needs one bearing so guess i need new ones... let me know what you got.. thanks :thumbsup:

Well fellas, i had a 404 kit with some damn good porting done to it (nothing to drastic, just a trail port) but you can ask Lethaface on here how good it ran.. it made him made because his drag setup couldnt hold up to it.. now his bro has the cylinders and loves them.. yes the 404 kit does make your transfer ports smaller but a good builder will know what to do.. but all in all i loved my 404 kit.... it ran hard as hell and has tones of low to top end power... but if i were to do it all over again i would've jsut ported my stockers because i had a ton of money in my setup, you have to think the 404 is like 800 installed and a good port job is at least 300 so there is 1100 so far... just go with cubs for that amount of money... you can still ride trails with them but may not have as much fun as a ported 404 set... hope this helps........ :thumbsup:
