  5. i was running CGL's... but Tim had suggested to get opinions like i said earlier... and man i really appreciate your willingness to help... Tim said my main jets would affect my leaness or richness at a certain point because my needle was restricting the flow... so yeah i it is running lean with those big ass jets.... ive checked for leaks and cant find any so im just going to change my needles and if that dont help then prob just tear it down and redo it again maybe missed something earlier... but thanks for all your help and let me know what you think about those needles.... my elevation is 2000
  6. i know were there are some big bore cylinders that have been ported by cp customs that run like a raped ape!!! they were my old cylinders and the only reason i sold them was to go to a cub.... but these are stock stroke and have an aggressive play port on them and have tons of bottom end and endless top!!!! let me know and ill get you some pics and a price tag.... very good deal though, just rebuilt and broke in 2 weeks ago... thanks
  7. Alright dude, what Tim told me is that the way my motor was acting was because of my needles being to big in diameter! He said that the PJs suck at tuning and he uses 35 PWKs or bigger only.... and does not do pjs often.... i had a 172main in it and it was still lean as hell, no air leaks or anything.. and when i told him that he said it was my needle and to get opinions on my carbs... and he also said that in the PWKs he uses CELs on mid clip but that is a totally different carb.... but all i was looking for were opinions not smart ass remarks... and thank you to the ones who did what the post asked for...
  8. hey everyone, im wondering what needle would be the best for a 421 cub with pods cpi inframes, and 20 cc domes, on gas... it has 34 pjs on it now... need help its running to lean and i have huge mains in it now so i know its the needle bc Tim at Tiatan Racing told me that thats what it was.. so any help would be appreciated. thanks

  15. no i have not done a pressure test, but i really need to but no im not fouling any plugs and honestly its really lean... had WAY TO SMALL mains in it, so went up and havent had a chance to run it yet......
  16. yeah fellas, i have just repacked the silencers and the seals in the headers are good.. maybe its just the pipes, bc like i said earlier the motor has been totally re done... it did this even before the motor was re done... who knows, but all i know is that its pissing me off
  17. yeah well i was at 40:1 and it still did it but i actually went to 36:1 so i actually went richer... but i have heard that cpis do that also... and it stinks like hell
  18. i have a 421 cub and i am experiencing really oily stuff coming out of my exhaust and around my header and were the stingers meet the pipes... my jetting is pretty lean as of yesterday and im working on that now, but i read on the web that its gas mixing with condensation/fluid.... it was not doing this wiht my fmfs on there and now i have cpis so i dont know whats going on.... the motor has been completly redone from the ground up and it was doing this even before the rebuild and new seals and all that... any help and your opinions would be appreciated.. thanks

Ok fellas, i have a 421 cubby with CPI sb pipes, and my carbs are 34 pjs... with 8 inch filters... im have a terrible time getting this motor tuned... .... its spitting out black oiily stuff out my silencers, and smells like shit. and i feel like its to rich, it stutters and you have to keep it revved up and stay in the pipe for it to run half way decent. my jets are a 145 main, 42 pilot, clip on 4th(prob to low), my air fuel is turned out 1.5 turns, and my timing is at +8 which ill turn down to 4 when i get a new puller... and my elevation is 2000 above... any help would be appreciated.. thanks alot..... oh yeah, just wondering what everyone else is using on jetting with a similar setup...
