  1. theshee.... I wasn't trying to bash the way you did your paint. It has obviously worked out well for you and your paint looks very nice. I was just trying to help the original poster out w/ what I personally knew and have experienced, and how he could possibly do it a little bit faster. I mean who wouldn't want to save some time for the same results? I have painted alot of plastics whether it be for sportbikes or quads or whatever, and this is just the way I do it. Plus the steps I was refering to were for automotive paint, not Krylon Fusion. I didn't want to just be some ass who came here suggesting something and have no basis for why I said it. So once again, I apoligize if you took what i said badly. It was in no way meant to bash you or what you have done.
  2. Majicmike is exactly right. That is the easiest and best way to do it. In fact at the custom body shop I work at, that is how we would do it. The problem w/ sanding the plastics so course is that by the time you are all said and done, the primer buildup is to thick and regular primer is quite brittle once completely dry. Urethane automotive primer is a little better, but you still run into a problem with being brittle. Since the plastic does flex when riding, the brittle primer is prone to cracking which in turn will crack the paint. Also sanding primer with anything more then 600-800 may actually be hurting your paint job. The paint needs those sanding scratches to adhere to the primer so if the surface the paint is being applied to is too smooth, the topcoat doesn't get the adhesion it needs. I typically sand w/ 400 or 600 before i apply my basecoat.
  3. I would much rather have the hush kit on then have to slap some sparkies on. Not to mention if you change to stock silencers you will probably lose some power. To me, the best alrenative is by far the hush kit and I actually like the way it looks. Goes good w/ all my billet and polished stuff.
  4. I have gotten sound tested at Silver Lake w/ my T5's and a hush kit. I ended up RIGHT at the legal limit. But the only time I have ever been tested was on the fourth of July weekend when they do random testing. So for the most part you shouldn't have much trouble, just make sure that you have fresh packing on holiday weekends.
  5. Took me awhile to get a tracking number from buying some footpegs, but I did finally get it, so just be patient. I talked to him on the phone and he seemed like a good guy. He has been sick and everything for the past few days, but it sounds like everything has been shipped out.
  6. As the title states, I am looking some trail tech headlights for the stock location as well for the stock stator. I also need some billet footpegs. Also am looking for a +4 braided brake line, and possibly a billet hi-flo impeller if anyone has this stuff around. I ready to buy immediately for the right price. Let me know what you guys have! Thanks!
  7. As title states, I am looking for some front shocks ASAP. Blew one of mine at Silver Lake last weekend and have another dune trip coming up pretty quickly. Stock shocks or mildly priced aftermarket shocks, but let me know about anything you may have!! I need these ASAP so let me know what you have.
