nope, but the noise I hear is definately the spring. Is that normal?

Ya, I had a look at my tops where the spring seats and there is about a 1/4 inch difference in diameter between the o-ring and spring. My slides look like brand new, smooth and still black with no signs of wear. Apparently the guy that owned it before me had the problem and he had only ridden it a few times in the dunes since new. When the carbs are assembled and I push the thumb throttle, I can here and feel a faint click inside them 2 to 3 times when I apply it slowly from off to WOT. Sounds like the spring to me but don't know for sure. What I do know for sure is that it's pissin' me off!

Do the stock carb tops have a centering seat for the top of the spring? My aftermarket tops don't, maybe thats the the problem.

My bike does the exact same thing with the stock carbs (TORS removed) sometimes only 6 times per tank. Always at the wrong time. 4th gear wheelie on pavement turned to cartwheelie. Bought new cables, lubed them. I tried to order some stronger springs but no luck. Some of the people i ride with say that it does stick when you take the TORS off. Going to take the carbs off again tomorrow and look for hangups in my slide but the throttle seems to snap back just fine when it's parked. Also, I don't have the idle screws in my carbs that are supposed to be installed with the TORS removal but I can't see that affecting anything.
