  1. I'm posting this for my my wife here is a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT FWD in excellent condition. Beautiful Surf Blue Pearlcoat with charcoal interior. External chrome appearance package with 19" by 7" wheels. Tinted windows, power everything, CD player, V6 which averages about 22.7 MGP when split evenly between highway and city driving. One owner, meticulously maintained, new front brakes/rotors. I love this car, but needed something bigger. Garage kept, non smoking. 32,260 Miles (Pardon the bad photo - it started snowing just as I was trying to get picture) I will get a better pic this weekend. $14,900 OBO We are in Milan MI about 2 hours south of Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Give me a ring at 734-845-7620 anytime.
  2. Thanks, I will keep everyone posted on progress.
  3. Little update. Everything is welded and wire mesh on each side. Coated it with plastic bonding adhesive (auto body spec) and am sanding. Man this shit is taking me a lot longer than I thought. Anyway below is a pic still needs some filler but you get the idea.
  4. I like the 3.5" angle grinder then sand the edges buy hand then hit it with a heat gun seems to do the trick.
  5. If anyone really wants a new OEM look I am pretty sure you can get the fenders from past years and get the decals from overseas Yamaha (you can buy them from online dealers in Europe) if you want a new looking OEM Shee. Or you could go custom and do something really trick.
  6. Nice job. Looks better than most the stuff out there!
  7. You know I wonder how the OEM tank and rad cover would fit on the Maires
  8. Sweet dude. I think I saw your pic and the mag is at my work and I will be off till after Jan 1st so If no one post a pic I will scan and send in then. What is funny I I have ben a Dirtwheels and ATV Action subscriber and there predicessors since 1982 and I used to look forward to the new mags but now they are the same old stuff since we have all these production 450's. Not to knock the new 450s, I had YFZ450 for a few years but I would be nice if the mags could mix it up like the car mags do. Example is you could see a tricked out 65 Mustang and a 2010 in a Mustang mag with all the hop ups and special builds. Now if Dirtwheels and others would start covering stuff from the 80's based models like Banshee's, 250R's, Quadracer's and all the cool trikes. Even OEM restorations of quads and trikes would be cool, just something different.
  9. They hold up well. We have some on my wifes Kawasaki Lakota and they fit okay, but my buddy put a full set on his Banshee and the tank/rad cover didn't fit the front fenders like OEM, were okay from a few feet back but up close looked like crud. I would have send them back but he beats his quads up good so it didn't matter to him. Maybe others that have them on there shee can chim in.
  10. Jereme6655 sorry I missed your post last time I posted. I'm glad you liked it, I'm actually a designer by trade and always try to think of better ways to do stuff. I actually got the other side welded now and I'm inlaying metal screen metal mesh to make it hold up. Not sure if I'm going to do a mold of not yet but still may try. The problem is with me making fenders there is so much cost involved in materials to do glass or carbon fiber. So the next best thing is to have someone else make fenders from plastic. I know Maier would maybe make them if we ordered enough sets. A guy on Kawieriders.com did that and got a bunch of side panels and other stuff made for forum members but he footed the money upfront. Also don't care for Maier so much, they smooth to may body lines out and don't fit like OEM.
  11. Yeah, it is coming. I got the rivets out of the other side and now I and working on melting in some metal mesh reinforcement. After that there is a Plastic Adhesive I have done on a hood before and worked so I will sand fill and sand again. Then off to prime and paint and will post pics but this is taking longer than I hoped. I have also thought about welding the 3 peices of the front fenders together like an aftermarket also, but not sure if I will spend that much time.
  12. Hey this is taking up room in my basement want gone asap. See attached pic below. I am interested $375 or trade for Banshee cylinders, rods, pistons etc. This item would make a great x-mass gift if you have a few parts I need laying around. You can call me with any questions (734) 845-7620.
  13. AKheathen, I actually had a strip the length of the fender from the removed items as a backer and was riveted temporary to hold them together (I will post pics of the process later). Then from the top I done the V method then melted and filled, I never have used the surface weld, they will break if you breath on them just like metal. Them once the top is done I drilled out the rivets (filled them) and welded from the back and seems strong. I have plastic welded a few things but this is the biggest I have done. Also once I get the other side done I will reinforce with mesh after a heat up, then use a PE compatible plastic filler to finish it off an do a final sand.
  14. Okay, here is a little update. I welded one side, kinda rough but some sanding will do the trick.
  15. Yeah, I have saw that. I actually used to do alot of vehicle graphics, car truck etc. This would work an stick to plastic but to make it really stick to the PE plastics using a High Bond Convex vinyl as a base and then layer it with the carbon would be the trick but it would still be a wrap and not look like real carbon fiber. Even though I will be painting my plastic I will be using printed vinyl of my own designs instead of air brush since I like to change it up every once in a while. Now since I will have a good base I can use a regular printable sign grade vinyl and laminate it. On a side note, if anyone wants to have custom graphics done, beware most sign shops don't stock an ATV/MX purpose vinyl that won't blow of with a pressure washer. This site below is what I have used and works great, 3M also makes similar vinyl. http://www.convexvinyl.com/
  16. I saw they had the materials to make original I thought you ment the wrapping my plastics. Anyway that is a good idea, I may still do a mold down the road in carbon fiber or glass but for now I think I will just finish the ones I'm working on. It is hard finding time for just doing that and any extra funds I have will be spent on going through the motor (rod broke) and that will cost a few bucks, at least it is not as expensive as my old YFZ450. I was just doing the fenders this way now because it is a cheap cool mod and my buddy owes me some paint work.
  17. The carbon fiber wrap looks cool but I'm not sure it would stick to PE plastic like on our quads. I will have to look into it more though. It is a similar Idea of what Kawasaki uses on the SE KFX700s, they have a carbon fiber but have a real brittle plastic on those models. Also, I doubt I will make a mold anytime soon and if I do I do not plan to sell (to expensive material and the time involved like Larry's Shee mentioned) But I hope to get these plastic welded and smoothed out in the next few weeks if I can get a few evenings in the shop to get them ready for paint. If these was enough demand for something like these we probably could get them molded on a production line. On Kawieriders.com in the Tecate forum there was a member TMHcycle that had got sidepanels, light and rad cap covers molded for the Tecate 4. He was going to get fenders done but not enough demand for that quad which was only made for 2 years, but the Banshee has a much stronger following.
  18. Thanks. You know I was thinking again on the fibreglass and using a mold. I think they would be very prone to break especially the end of the fenders that stick out, it would be interesting to see though. To bad we couldn't get Full Bore to make them, Maier probably would if we ordered enough sets the problem is their fenders don't fit well from the ones I had in the past.
  19. Sorry what I ment to add is, making the mold may not be that big of deal but if you need to make a bunch for others as a business that takes time especially laying f-glass. I know I do graphics on the side already.
  20. Hey, I don't really have the time to make a mold anyway but I may if need be (if I could quite my job then I could do it but that isn't happening), I know it will take alot of that, if you would want to make a mold go to it. I think alot of people on here would like the stock look but trimmed down like a hot rod. I will in the next few weeks get my modded fenders finish welded, filled and sanded the my buddy will paint. If you are really serious about doing a mold and making them I might even send you the fenders for the mold (can I get a really reduced rate for that?) or I will get you some pics of how I did them for the base. I just think this would be a cool alternative. If you make it please just give me some credit for the idea. When I did a similar thing on kawie riders with a hood mod I at least got "inspired by..." Any questions let me know.
  21. Looks nice, I really like the front frame mod!
  22. Yeah, Have thought about making a mold, but time is the problem. When I don't see what I like, I make it but would suck to break it. I guess I need to figure out if I will make a mold before paint. If I happen to make a mold of these how many would want it? This mod is my own thing, I like to keep the basics of a machine but tweak it. If I were to spend the time making a mold I would like to sell them. I just can't understand why nobody hasn't done similar yet?
  23. Thanks, when I'm done I wish I could just have someone make a mold and cast new ones as needed with better paintable plastic or fiberglass. Since there is going to be a bunch of time in these and one little crash and I'm redoing it. Oh well guess I better not crash.
