I wonder if i could do this with my fmf turbine cores?
-
Trust me , Its not always the harness that causes electrical problems, Its usually all the things that attach to the harness like the CDI-coils-stator, stuff like that. My buddy buys old bikes like that all the time and like said above, Its usually a gamble.

I have also switched to A arms from J arms and I doubt you want those for racing, You could probably make them work but from my experience with them they are JUNK.
-
I dunno if the dealers around you are like here but.. I can get 20% off by being a AMA member.
What is AMA?

thats the problem, whoever painted it made it really hard to read. I am hoping they didnt do it on purpose! I found a chart, so now i just have to figure out what that 10th digit is for sure. i will upload the chart and somebody can stickie it so we have it for future reference.
Well if it is a 4 or an A then you either have a 1974, a 1980 or a 2004... seeing that they didn't make shees in 74 or 80, I'd say you got a 04.
-
Well they work good so I'm going to keep running them till i find some 28 or 30mm carbs.

If I were to throw in my 2 cent guess, this could be a design to pressurize the float bowls in a pressurized air box configuration.
On street bikes that have ram air and carbs, you have to pressurize the bowls too.
Interesting... So i wonder if these could be from an old rz/rd or someother oldschool streetbike?

i see we got a few easterners here... more than i thought. we should organize a ride sometime halfway between ontario an the coast?? Quebec/New Brunswick as a SHITLOAD of trails for snomobiles
That sounds like a pretty good idea! Id be up for it.

I wonder why the 01-02 shows a bigger gap than 87-01?
-
Yah I was thinking maybe somekind of built in power jet also. The only place it goes is from the bowl to the back of the carb the small little hole on the right in the last picture.
I always seem to have different jetting compared to my buddy with stock carbs, I wonder if this has something to do with it?
I wonder if there is any advantage with these carbs compared to stock?
-
I am aware that they are not the same as stock carbs. I was just hoping some one here must know what that piece is for. Surely NYUK or one of the older members must know?

Well I have always wondered what these carbs came from. They were on my bike when I got it as a pile of parts. They don't look the same as my buddies stock carbs, but they are 26mm. I would like to know what the purpose of the fitting that goies from the bowl into the mouth of the carb, I haver never seen this on other carbs?
Here is a closer pic
It goes to the little hole on the right
Surely someone on here can shed some light?

I have a 87 and I just switched to a 05 frame with +2 a arms and I am running my spindles and brakes from the 87. I don't see why they wouldn't fit.

Thanks guys that was just what I was looking for. Well the next set of plugs I buy I will try this out.

I bought a relocation plate on ebay, It lets you put everything inbetween the rad and gas tank, It looks really clean. I can't seem to find a link right now, but I'm pretty sure the guys that makes them is a member on here. I have also seen some people cut the stock mount off and weld it up front under the fender. I'm sure there are a few ways to do it.
Wacko2000 beat me to it..lol

ive done the roundhouse conversion to stock swingarms many times before. ive done them for prolly 5 members here on the site. i have done them where the swingarm is off the bike and i did one for myself where i left the swingarm on. never had an issue.
Do you have any tips on how to do this, I have a stock swinger laying around that I would like to try this on, Just not sure on what materials to buy.
-
I know this is probably a stupid question, but I was just wondering why this needs to be done?
I have been around lots of bikes and sleds( I am no master builder, just your average do it your self kind of guy) and have personally never set the gap on a set of plugs and never seemed to have a problem, Would there be an adavntage to setting the proper gap on my shee?
Thanks

I used +2 banshee ones when I had the 450 arms.
Thanks

Ok I picked up a set of 450 arms to try out, so what tie rods do I use with these.. Banshee +2 or stock 450. I would like to use the tie rod ends that I already have on my banshee If thats possible? I just wanted to now what to get before I spend money on the wrong parts. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the replys guys. I have talked to a few builders and I have decided to have RB racing do my work. He seems to be the only one (that i spoke with) that was actually interested in helping me get what I want out of my motor. Thanks Bob.
I was suprised by some of the answers I got from other builders, Especially GSF racing who suggested that a CUB kit would better for trails than a good port job. LOL... I don't mean to bash ppl but that almost made me fall off my chair laughing when I read that for the first time. Especailly after reading so many posts on here about Cubs and trails.

I picked up a set of stock cylinders recently and plan to get them ported in the future, I was wondering if there are any good builders on this side of the border.. it would sure cut down on the shipping costs.
Thanks.

Yah i thought they would come with instructions but they didn't. I went ahead and put them on with out the reed stops , I guess i will just see wahat happens.
-
I am about to put some new carbonfiber reed petals on my stock reed cages, I was wondering if I have to put the reed stops back on or not.....I don't think i have to, but i figured I would see what the pros think.
Thanks
