  1. Me thinks me can make this trip....I'll see if Wheelman wants to roll or if I have to borrow a ride. Should be fun! Close, local...always have a good time at Phils.
  2. Unless you are limited to a specific cc class you plan on racing, I agree, go 10. I had both. My 10 had more legs upstairs. Either is a great choice, but as said add a few extra hundo for the 10 -- Sent from my Palm TouchPad using Forums
  3. Thank you Fred for the explanation. Has anyone talked to you about some test and tune sessions...or maybe putting on some more races? The East side folks are really in need of a track within a 2 hour drive.... Any thoughts?
  4. Tyler, Shawn is our kinda guy. Laid back, help you with anything... His pops and wife always smiling and helpful at the track. Can't tell you how many times I've lined up next to her...it's always the same thing...hey, good luck with a smile! If I wouldn't have sold all my stuff to Wheelsmanslim, I would've gave it to them for her to ride until they could get settled again. They're that kind of people...
  5. Steph's Bike and the golf cart.
  6. One of my good friends and fellow racers just received multiple kicks to the nads. Shawn is one of the nicest guys around, would literally give you the parts out of his tool box or off his own bike just to race you in the very next round. This pisses me off more than anything. He lives on the west side of the state and he just got ripped off big time. Here is a copy of his post from another forum. Please keep an eye out. ProFormance Prototypes was broken into overnight. Stolen was our 26’ cargo mate white tag-trailer, various race equipment, including drag banshee, a dirt bike, a golf cart (new black paint job with our name in blue), as well as lots of tools, 4 sets of new paddle tires, generator, helmets, and a lot of extra banshee race parts etc. Please keep a look-out for any of these items on any of our familiar sites… if anyone sees anything out there please let us know. Our race season has come to a screeching halt. Thanks for your help Shawn Roth Proformance prototypes [email protected] 616-318-3353 UPDATE Guys, here is a link to some pictures of some of the stuff that got stolen. http://forums.atvdragracers.com/topic/11291-break-in/page__gopid__94401#entry94401
  7. Hell....my old motor is running pretty darn good in Chris' hands. I'm hoping he lets me ride it...lol.
  8. I miss the family...might have to make it out for this one. I wonder if Chris has enough parts to bring his old bike and new bike/motor out...hmmm...
  9. I agree...ET AND being able to back that ET up is where it's at. Unless you have a dyno at the track you're actually running at on the given day you're running, a dyno is good for comparing mod to mod and getting a baseline for a motor. I don't put any faith in the dyno queens that don't back it up at a known track...against other known builders.
  10. Based on that...there would only be one pipe builder.... I've ran Shearer for a long time, used CPI and now I have Snipers (even though I sold my bike, I kept the pipes). My good buddy has my motor and my old pipes actually. Maybe I'll get a side by side comparison this year.... Ban421... That's 100% subjective. Each builder has their own preference...
  11. I like being safe. Throw a 300 in there and be done.
  12. SB if you're not going to port them. If you're going to port them...ask your builder. I say talk to Sniper Pipes on here. His quality is second to none.
  13. Stock CDI, Nology Coil, stock flywheel, timing set from 7 to 12, depending on "other" things... I've never, ever had any kind of ignition problems.
  14. I've talked and worked with both FAST and HJR. It's like Marissa Miller and Gisele Budchen. Either way...you can't lose. Jeff cleaned up my 4 mil cub and has always been there for me for anything, and he's always said...my motor or not, I just want to see you riding and happy. Kevin ported my 10 mil cub after a few seasons, and I would put my old 10 mil against any "Big Name" builder in the country, pound for pound... when I get back into the game next year or the year after...I'll be hitting up HJR.
  15. Cam...a 4 mil cub should pull that gearing all day long...IMO. With shorter gearing, it would've started screaming earlier and ran out of fuel...again, IMO.
  16. No offense, but I think that's going in the wrong direction. I think it'll blow the tires off even more than he is now.
  17. 10 - 12 paddle tires and put it in sand. Because of the lightswitch power band on a cub...good luck getting a set of knobbies to hook up no matter what the surface. On my 4 mil cub with a 6 over arm I could fry holeshot XCR tires in deep, nasty grass...whereas normally it'd hook so hard it buck you off the back. That thing is hitting like a freight train and it needs tires, suspension, gearing and the ability to shift to get it all to the ground. Good luck....
  18. A 450 dirt bike is still only in the mid 40s...and it weighs just a hair more than a 250. They just get traction....period. And they're lighter and geared different.
  19. They were going by you in 6th gear because you were running out of fuel. Fix it as is before you go looking for more power. Then...work on traction. You have damn near the same power to weight ratio as those bikes. A healthy 4 mil cub is around 80ish or so HP. An RM250 is 40ish. But half the weight.... If you get traction, you should be able to beat any 450 based 4 wheeler....unless it's WAY done up. Where they're beating you is handling and traction. My buddy had an 04 450R with damn near everything done to it. When I could actually shift my 4 mil cub on gas (didn't have an override tranny) it wasn't even close. Of course, this was at the dunes with paddle tires.
  20. You starved the motor of fuel. You need at the very least a dual outlet pingle. 100% perfect jetting doesn't mean anything if there isn't enough fuel in the bowls. My advice...and this is overkill...is get a dual pingle and larger float bowls. You can NEVER have too much fuel supply. And if you have the stock gas cap...take the little screws off the bottom and remove the check ball... It needs to breath through that vent.
  21. Sorry for now browsing this whole thread..... Question...are these short runs, or are these long, wide open runs in top gear? If it's long runs...it's possible you're sucking your float bowls dry...that'll melt a motor in a hurry as well. What does your fuel supply look like? Pingel or stock fuel valve? Have you drilled your gas cap or at least removed the check ball?
  22. You should be able to run 20cc domes cut properly and run AV gas...but to be honest, I'm not a fan of it. I'd rather run all race fuel or pump gas.
  23. Ok...let's go another route. What is your cranking compression AND your UCCR for that motor. 17 cc domes might be ok for 4000 foot...they won't last long at sea level. Air leak or wrong domes if you gave it that much fuel and it still melted down.
  24. General rule of thumb I've used is 1-2 main sizes richer for every 1000 feet you go down in elevation. That being said...if you put a hole in a piston and both plugs were white, you had signs before it melted down that you missed.
  25. It's only so for now.... Economy and housing market are in the dumps here bad...I'm in good shape now...and taking the right steps to make sure it's that way for time to come. That means buckling down on the toys... I'll still be at the track with the family now and then...I'll just have to ride their bikes...lol.
