  1. Gang, The chain tension adjusters are turned all the way in on my '01 shee but it's still on the loose side. The chain is in apparently good condition according to a MXer friend (he checked it out when we had it off the bike). I have a 13-tooth front sprocket but otherwise stock chain & rear sprocket AFAIK. I was going to pull a link out of the chain, but a friend of mine said he did that with his bike and the chain ended up being too short, even with the adjusters backed out all the way. Should I try the -1 link (will require buying the gizmo to pop out the link) or just plunk down on a new chain (will require more $)? BTW, my Clymer manual says to check the chain with the wheels off the ground, and that it should have 0.6" slack in the middle. I could swear my old factory manual for my '96 shee (which I no longer have) said to check it on the ground and that it should have about 0.75" slack? thanx... _dennis
  2. Does that mean increasing the advance 4 degrees? Is this timing mod worthwhile on a nearly-stock (just pipes, K&N, jetted) engine? Does it require higher octane fuel, rejetting or running a richer premix? TIA, _dennis
  3. I haven't heard of this back-cut before. Got links? Also, is this better than this gizmo I've heard good things about? http://www.shiftpro.com/shift-pro_new_001.htm I have an '00 shee, and it's next to impossibe to get into neutral with the engine running. Before that, I had a '96 shee and after 6 years with it, neutral was never as hard to find as it is on this '00. TIA, _dennis
  4. Yeah. I don't know about burning it up, but when I was setting up my bike at Ricky Stator, he told me to try to keep the total wattage of the components to about 75% of the stator's max output. _dennis
  5. On my previous bike ('96) I ran 4 Ricky Stator Aluminators (2 in the stock location, 50w each; and 2 on the handlebars, 35w each) and his 260w dual-output stator (no longer available). I also ran his battery kit (also NLA) so I could power these and my GPS, tail light, whip light, and a little LED without worrying about keeping the R's up alll the time. Pix: http://members.cox.net/dr.overkill/index_b.html I'm planning to run HIDs on my current bike ('00) but am waiting to see Lazerstar's "improved" HID they're supposed to be coming out with ~ January. I want to do another battery like before (so I can run the HIDs and hardwire the GPS to it), but it will have to be a custom fabrication this time unless someone knows of another manufacturer making battery kits. _dennis
