parting out complete banshee
MudDuck replied to banshee boy 98's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
What parts are left?? -
We all met up and rode today. Iit was beautiful about 55 degress!! My buddy just bought a built Honda 250R . It had alot of really nice parts on it. Nothing was stock except for the frame. The motor and pipe was from ECR?? ESR?? stroker kit i guess. Anyways i drag raced him and not knowing how fast they are eventhough i heard alot about them. It was pretty much even. I would win by 2-3 bikes or he would beat me by 2-3 bikes. Which i guess it all came down to who got out the hole better. i did noticed that i had more of a topend pull. But i do have to say that thing flat out hauled ass thru the trails! Then i raced another Banshee that had SST's and a Cool head. His bike was pretty beat up though but i didnt have a problem out running him either. Overall i had a blast and was very pleased with my mostly stock bike running as fast as it does. The Fatty's really woke this thing up. And i still am running the 14/46 gearing so my topend was even limited.

Mines Jadon67209. Wheres Parson,Ks at dune_girl??

I also have been thinking of a shorter swingarm to. But i drag race alot would it hurt getting off the line from wheeling to easy or is that something that can be adjusted to from riding styles?

Your a sick lil puppy -
And fit in with all the other fags that drive them??

When are you trying this pass?

Good luck on the flip.

The pipes are in pretty good shape with slight discoloring and overall look very good. The power increase was like night and day. The stock pipes without baffles sucked ass. My bike hits the pipe hard and tries to rip your arms out in the power band when before it was very lazy. It wheelies very easy in 3rd without the clutch when before it wouldnt even get the wheels off the ground. I'm a happy camper now!!

Hey thanks alot. That really helps out!

I'm just going to get the 15/41 sprockets and a new chain. I didnt realize my 14/46 was like a 12/40 as stated earlier. Thanks guys.
-
I was going to try a 15 front with my 46 back sprocket you guys think this would be a good combo? Right now its a 14/46 gearing. But even launching in 2nd it spins to easily. And yes i finally have beat my buddies 04 after getting a set of used FMF Gold series pipes.
-
I got the FMF's on and Jesus Christ what an improvement over stock pipes! This thing comes alive when it gets on the pipe. Its alot faster now and i can finally beat my buddies 04. He use to beat me by 2-3 bike lenghts but now i pull ahead of him. I checked the plugs and its a little on the rich side. I have most of those mods done except for reeds and my gearing is already a 14/46. Overall i'm very happy with the pipes.

I have been shoipping around for a new set of CPI's etc. But my buddy had a set of used FMF's Gold series for 150.00 that seem too good not to replace my stock pipes with. I'm still gonna get some CPI's but how do these Gold series perform? I do mostly trail riding with the occasional drag race. I have them installed but been to busy to ride it yet.

I am opening myself to being flamed but has anyone tried to make a ATV or any vehicle not intended for street driving street legal by say getting it inspected, all the required lights etc. ?? So they can drive it on public roads? I've seen a shitload of homemade trikes and buggies that have been taged and deemed road worthy so what would stop me from getting a Banshee done? Thanks. May the flaming commence.

My buddy is looking at one that has some good parts with port work. Whats the good and bad about these things? Hes got a Blaster with a 240 bigbore kit from Vito's right now. Would the 250 be a downgrade??
-
Thanks for all the replies. I havent had a chance to race my buddy again. But i did replace my clutch and it wasnt looking to good. The new EBC clutch really made a difference. I think it was slipping a little cuase it wouldnt pull the front end up in 2nd but now i can ride them pretty easy with out dumping the clutch. Seems like i do have more power getting to the ground. But i will re-gear it anyways.

Yeah my new nick name is now the Birdman. For all you rap fans out there.
-
I'm in Wichita. Isnt Gardner near Topeka? I plan on a set of pipes soon. Man i cant figure out what kind or what brand right now. I do alot of all around riding but theres a new Raptor that has been handing me my ass lately in a drag race. Those things have monster torque.

We were out trail riding and had a course half ass made up to race a couple ATV's at a time. Well the first part of the race is about 200-300 yard of whoops that you can fly thru and it takes a right turn and the 2nd part is thru the woods with several small jumps. I was flying trying to keep my buddy on his Banshee behind me when i flew by the first turn in 5th WOT. I didnt even try to hit the brakes but i figured i'd ride thru the field past the turn and haul ass back to try to catch him. Well this wasn't a very good idea. Cause when i got off the course and into the field i happen to a see a tree laying across, lengthwise in my way. It was one of those moments were everything slows down and you can actually say to yourself this is gonna Hurt!! I smacked into the tree head on, coming to a complete stop instantly. My knees ended up by the handle bars. But the Bitch didnt throw me off. My left tie rod was pretty bent but other then that nothing was hurt bad.

His "rear" is 3 bigger which would gear him down. That still explains why your losing to him. When you both hit 3rd gear, he's turning more mph than you because your undergeared. Gearing down is not the way to win a drag race, it can be helpful in a technical environment, but put your stock rear (41) back on or go to a 40 and you'll be moving faster quicker. Make sense? 287116[/snapback] We are racing for fairly short lengths. He pulls ahead of me about halfway in 3rd and stays there. So the stock gearing is taller so that is why he has more MPH?? I was thinking i needed a lower gear(smaller front or bigger back) to get out of the hole harder but then again would i just spin more?

I am in Kansas and my first ATV's a 02 Banshee. My buddies are mostly on 4 Strokes with a few Banshees and Blasters. Theres no dunes in Kansas unless we go to Ok. So most of the riding is trails and flat out racing along river banks and etc. Ii appreciate the warm reception.

Hey guys ive been reading alot about what to do first to start modding my Shee. This is my first ATV so i am rather new to this but i have had plenty of RD/RZ's street bikes over the years. My 02 is stock except for a K+N kit, no airbox lid, no baffles in stock pipes and its jetted which seems to run about right. The rear sprocket is 3 bigger then stock. I wish i new more but that is all that seems to have been done to it. First thing i did was dropped it off at a buddies house that works for a local Yamaha shop and he checked everything over and said it runs fine. Well i love riding it and it is a blast in the trails but when i drag race it seems to lose to my buddies stock 04 Shee rather easily. Do you guys think a set of pipes would help? Also this thing really is hard to get to wheelie. I did do a Compression test and got 110 psi both cyclinders. So looks like the motor is fine. Thanks.
