  1. Yup, an accurized AR15 with proper ammunition will put mutiple rounds in the same hole. I had a factory Colt Accurized Elite AR15 that was a 1/4MOA gun at 100 yards with ammo it liked. Like an idiot, I sold the upper and the lower soon afterward. I also had a Bushmaster Varminter that I got on a trade deal that I sold without ever firing a shot, again...like an idiot.
  2. We've actually done that...but with accurized AR15s. I also have a lever action .450 Marlin that shoot's the heads off of bolts at 100 yards...but it kicks slightly more.
  3. I've had a few 1911s of various makes. Sold them all but one, my Colt Delta Elite. No so much because I don't like 1911s, but because I just didn't really have a use for the .45acp anymore. Matter of fact, I sold ALL my .45s and .40s. (Even sold my Desert Eagle to buy my Banshee, but that's a different story). I retained one .357 magnum, my 9mms and the rest are 10mm Autos. The 10mm is just a far mroe versatile cartridge than the .45, so I liquidated them. It's far easier to make hits at longer distances with the 10mm and it will do everything from punch paper to hunt big game.
  4. Sorry! MOA or minute of angle is a term often used by shooters relating to sight adjustment or to explain bullet height in relation to the horizontal at various ranges. It is usually understood that one minute of angle is about one inch at 100 yards, roughly. True minute of angle is measured by first determining the minutes of angle in a circle. We know that a circle contains 360 degrees and that there are 60 minutes in each degree. The minutes of angle in a circle is 360 * 60 or 21,600. The circumference of a circle is 2 * p * R where R is the radius of the circle in inches. Hence, for any range R, a minute of angle equals 2 * 3.1416 * R divided by 21,600 or .000291 * R. So, if the range R is 100 yards, a minute of angle would be .000291 * 100 * 36 or 1.0476 inches. Because the distance covered at 100 yards is so close to being exactly 1 inch, the fraction is usually disregarded for range work, and we commonly say that a minute of change on the rear sight will move the point of impact 1-inch at 100 yards. If we were shooting at 1,000 yards, a minute of angle would cover .000291 * 1000 * 36 or 10.476 inches. The difference between the true minutes of angle and the rounded minutes of angle becomes greater as the range increases. Better?
  5. Minute Of Angle.
  6. Minute Of Angle.
  7. Personally, I wouldn't give her the satisfaction (and extreme pleasure) of muff diving her sorry self. Makes you wonder if someone set her up...
  8. Remember, we're talking about hitting a 6" wide post at 100 and 200 yards, NOT man-size targets. At just 25 yards, the front sight completely covers an 8" bullseye target. You can imagine what's it's like hitting a target just 6" wide at nearly 10 times that distance. We are also talking OFFHAND shooting, NO REST.
  9. Agreed. It's normally the people who aren't diehard pistol shooters that don't believe it. Fact of the matter is, if you have the basic pistol shooting skills down, you can do it. If you can see it, you can hit it (within reason). The guns I used (the two 10mms) are far more powerful, shoot flatter and have a much longer sight radius than the little 2" snubby that bob Munden used to hit party ballons at a distance 300 yards greater in length. Makes my 200 yards shots look like childs play.
  10. I'm not tryin to call you a liar, but I would want to see proof that you can accurately hit anything other than the broad side of a barn with a pistol at 200 yds....... Tell you what. If I can get together a few PA HQ members to the range, I'll have them witness it. That work for you? Pistols are MORE than accurate to make hits at that distance, 99 times out of 100, people can't make hits that far out because THEY are not accurate enough. It all boils down to trigger control and sight alignment. If you can get the trigger to break exactly the same every time WITHOUT moving the sights off the target (and you know the proper amount of hold-over) you can make hits with service-size pistols at 200 yards. Ever hear of Bob Munden? He is an exhibition shooter on American Shooter (on the OLN channel). They aired him making hits at 500 yards on a balloon with a S&W 38 Special. Again, sight alingment and trigger control. You aren't the first person to call me out on this. You will certainly won't be the last, either. It's usually the people who can't do it themselves that don't believe it. The look on the faces of these people after they see it done is worth a million bucks. BTW, there are a number of people over at www.glocktalk.com that can vouch for me. Several of us hit the range as a group every month. They've seen me do it on a number of occasions. Like I said, it's not that big of a deal once you know how to do it.
  11. I've actually sold around 3 dozen guns out of my collection in the last year. Some were sold to get into Banshees. Some I never used or had a desire to keep. I have a certain number of guns that I keep in rotation and a certain number that will never leave my possession.
  12. The AR50 weighs right around 38-40lbs. depending on the scope, base and bi-pod being used.
  13. He is one of mine that I affectionatley call "Boomer". http://glocktalk.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=2626821 I admit, I am more of a pistol guy, though. The ranges I normally go to are under 250 yards and shooting rifles at such short distances is just boring. My buddy and I regularly engage targets out to 200 yards with handguns. My pet pistols are my Glock 20 and 29, both in 10mm Auto. I carry one or the other on a daily basis and can make accurate hits out to 200 yards with them. If any of you guys are in the northeast PA area and want to try Boomer out, maybe we can have a little Banshee HQ range session.
  14. Since the mention of electoral college came up, I thought some of you guys might find this interesting. Like Brooke, I try to stay out of these political threads (great minds think alike). I don't come to this site to argue politics, I come to unwind and talk about something we ALL have in common; Banshees. I won't be subscribing to this thread, so if you feel the need to bash me for whatever infantile reason, don't bother. Crash Course in Electoral College Click Here
  15. You can. Turbocharge it!
  16. That's true, too. Assuming it was 802ccs (roughly 49 cubic inches), that would be just under 4hp per cubic inch.
  17. Ok, so assuming they uses 535 jugs, that's 267.5ccs per jug, multiplied by 3 and we get 802.5ccs.
  18. How many CCs are the triples?
  19. ...normal riding? I'm looking for an extended swingarm that will help keep the front end down for drag racing but won't hinder the quad's normal riding/handling characteristics. I was thinking of a +2". Any thoughts?
  20. "what the hell happened to the good old days, full of fist fights and make-shift weapons?" A Banshee moving at 70+mph isn't make-shift enough?
  21. Not just a Republican, sweetie. A conservative Republican. Unfortunately, they aren't one-in-the-same any more. Just ask Ah-nold...
  22. I-CAR, BMW and DuPont certified autobody refinish tech. (painter) Pennsylvania carry permit holder (which is also honored in Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming). Glock certified armor. NRA certified instructor. NHRA competition drivers license (7.50 e.t.) Oh, and certifiably in love with Brooke.
  23. I think a big deal is being made about labeling what to call this. Some say hunting, some say varminting. Same thing when someone calls an ATV a "bike". A bike is a word most commonly used to describe a motorcycle. However, on this site, we know when someone says "bike" they are refering to an ATV. Same is true for hunting and varminting. Hunting is a broad term used to decribe the many ways in which to harvest game and pests. Fishing is also a broad term used to describe the taking of fish. For example, trolling is vastly different than fly fishing which is also described as an art form. Yet, they both result in the same thing...the taking of fish. Get it? For those of you who think varminting isn't hunting and requires no skill, I would like to see you accurately hit a moving target no bigger than a Coke can at distances that can easily reach out to 500+ yards. Don't think that requires skill? Did you also know that "calling" is used in varmiting much like you would "call in" a deer or elk? No skill you say?! The fact of the matter is, these people aren't out for kicks when they varmint hunt. They are contolling the ever rising number of rats that infest fields used to grow crops and raise cattle. Varminting IS hunting. Trolling IS fishing. For anyone to say varminting is useless killing is being ignorant. Just ask the farmers and cattle ranchers who lose tens of thousands of dollars each year to these rats. Call it hunting, call it exterminating. Either way, it's a necessary thing. Just ask those dinosaurs. Ever wonder why they became extinct? Also, comparing ATV ownership (a privilage) to gun ownership (a constitutionally protected right) is silly. Think anyone can legally own a gun? Commit a felony and try to buy one through legal channels. You can't use something as part of your arguement and then tell me to "save the arguement". If you bring it up, it's fair game (no pun intended). Now, to touch on the topic of selling the video. What you don't see in these video promotions is what else is contained in the video. Precision marksmanship, equipment tutorials which include picking the appropriate ammo, rifle and spotting scopes, ammo selection, bench rests, etc are almost always included in these videos. The actual shooting is shown to also demonstrate the effectiveness of different calibers, loads, etc. which is paramount to picking the right rifle/load to make the most humane kills possible. Remember, the alternative to varminting is the use of poisoning. Poisoning is not only an agonizing way to die for the varmint, it also runs the risk of contaminating our food supply (remember, all this is done on farms which is where our food comes from!!). I suppose some people rather farmers use poison to induce a slow, painful death for the rats and run the risk of being food poisoned rather than the varmints be shot and die instantly? One thing I must ask, if you object to the whole thing, why in the hell would you take the time and effort to download the video?
  24. For those of you who think "varminting" is useless killing... http://www.seekersoftheredmist.com/why.html It's a bit more than "kinda chicken shit to go out and blast shit, then sell the video on the internet, doesnt matter how you justify it........ " as you can now see. Perhaps a little research on the subject may be in order before you pass judgement on it and the people who participate in it. One would think this would be second nature to ATV'ers of all people. After all, the tree-huggers all think we are nature-hating environmental murders in their eyes. The statement you made quoted above mirrors this narrow-minded attitude.
  25. Some people were no doubt absent the day common sense was given out.
