  1. So a few more pics.I never got a whole bike it was just a part i got in trade from another individual that lives over in the oregon city area and he bought from somebody ?As far as markings on the hardware thay just appear to be a grade 8 allen head bolt .The carrier has no engraving at all ? So as for the question of is it for sale of course its for sale if the price is right.

Yeah, I am 98% sure that's one of my old arms......... I'll see if I can find pictures of it on one of my bikes or when I was making it.

  2. So here are few more pics .And I got it in a cash + parts trade for 505cc t-rex powervalve motor I move a lot of high end parts and everything is for sale .The arm has not been taken care of very well has had some tig welding done to it but still a cool piece. The carrier is nice .

If you don't mind me asking, what approximate geographic location did you get the bike from?

If that carrier doesn't have any engraving on it, and has tapered or cartridge style bearings, then there is a pretty good chance it's off of one of my old bikes. Do most of the fasteners on the arm look like they are alternatively marked aerospace grading types?

  3. Now correct me if i am wrong but isnt unsprung weight a good thing to an extent just like on a car. If your leafs are over your axle then the weight of the axle will smooth out the ride? Btw very nice swinger for sure!

    Cody

Generally, you want as little unsprung weight as possible (even on a car). You smooth out the ride with the design of the suspension, not unsprung weight. Unsprung weight is usually something you "deal with" instead of designing it into a suspension system.

  4. Dynojets are not very accurate. Probably the least accurate out of any dyno I have seen.

Word. In the world of engine development, Dynojets are the AMC Gremlins of the engine development world. They are better than nothing, they work the way they are supposed, but not without extra effort.........and rarely do any of them perform exactly the same. In other words, I might fiddle around with one, but I would never put my name on a sheet from one, and I would rather be doing better work with something else.downtoilette.gif

  5. I'm having my 2-5 full override in my 10mil Twister converted over to an extreme by WCR. I'll let you know how it works once dune season comes around for us here in wyoming.

So, you finally decided to look inside the cases on that thing........

Did you find the bag of marbles or BonBon's big black rubber dildo I left in there?

  6. Um...what caused the skirt to break in the first place, that's the first question that needs to be asked.

Did you check hot or cold? Cast pistons and forged heat up and expand differently.

Did you bother to check ring end gap?

    Two things (Dave noted both):

1.) The piston skirt broke for a reason. Most likely, the bore is out of round or not square to the crank (providing nothing else is wrong with the engine.

2.) You can't put a cast piston in a hole machined for a forged piston and vise versa (The machining spec. / tolerances are different).

  7. well may go and see a bike this week, the bike has had 3 or 4 owners, just had a new waterpump, clutch and 2 new pro x pistons

the only thing troubling me is if the bike is ported, he doesn't know, he didnt do the engine work and so doesn't know if she has been ported or not, heres a link to give you all a rough idea of what she is like... http://belfast.gumtr...6/51969896.html

i have never heard of pro x, im a wiseco supporter, does the use of these pistons signify anything? are they for ported bikes or what?

Pro-X pistons are a great cast piston for OEM'ish engines.

  8. Has any body dealt with them lately? I heard rumors that they were being investigated for trafficking in stolen parts, right after I heard this they closed their shop in Portland and moved out to the sticks.

They moved out of Portland a few years ago (now in Boring, along with JJ&A, Twister, Cascade, etc.). I haved talked to Eric since then and he seems to be doing pretty well. They moved because it's a more efficient place to do their type of business than in Portland.

  9. there about an hour and a half from me and have heard good things about them. Small shop like me. Seen some of there work. not bad. Friend had a set of drag pipes made from them last summer. They took longer than they were supposed too to make. His first ride out on them the silencer broke off of one pipe. bad weld.

Then my other buddy had a 4mill built by them that whooped ass on everyone he came across. Thats what I no.

Is Eric actually making these pipes or are they Shearer's with Cascade's new silencers on them?

(I could be a month or so out of the latest Oregon ATV industry info stream........)

  10. does anyone know where to get the damper bushings for works shocks? my brother sent his shocks to a buddy to have them powder coated

and rebuilt for free. Somehow they lost the bushings to mount them (idiots). we are going riding the weekend after halloween. need the parts asap! can anyone help?

    thanks

You have to get them from Works or one of their distributors.

I know Cascade and several others should be able to sort something out for you if dealing with Works directly is not fast enough for you.

  11. If anyone is interested here is exactly what I sent Jerry for feedback on the bowls that I purchased for my red bike. Keep in mind that this converstaion is meant to be between two engineering oriented folks, I am completely happy with my purchase, and I am still running these bowls:

"I finally broke down and bought some of your float bowls.

I am very happy with them and they are the best bowls I have seen on the market and I can say that having fooled with pretty much every bowl out there with the exception of K&T. I have even made several iterations of bowls myself that never made me really happy.

With that said, I have one negative comment and two suggestions:

*I only received one bowl drain screw. The one I did receive was a 10/32 screw and the bowl drains were tapped for M5x.08. I sorted this out without trouble, but someone else might not be happy about this.

*It might look better if you included a button allen screw for the drain instead of a phillips head screw.

*It might be nice to chamfer or deburr the top edges of the bowl itself as they are very sharp."

Hopefully this helps some of y'all.....

  12. I have been looking for a set also, might as well be looking for the holy grail!Seems like someone on this site has the skills to fab a couple sets.

I am also looking for a seond set. I have the skills to make them, but they are made in such a way that they are not easy to make without the specialized aluminum bending equipment. I am still looking to shag a set off of eBay (paying twice what they're worth).
