  1. i am thinking you mean 5 thousanths I'm sure your right. I've never had a head milled so I don't know my brother took care of that.
  2. I understand that the new carbs have the TORS removal but did you unplug the parking bike sensor, and the throttle sensor? Also is the little black box under the left side (while sitting on it) under the frame unplugged? Look at the trouble I had on this topic and see if it applies to you. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=28249
  3. It had vtec (spell) pistons that were 1 over (I think) again my brother took care of that. And the head was milled 5mm from what I understand. And mistakenly we did not measure the rings before we put the bike together.
  4. My brother said to e-mail him with your information etc for the head at joeyz4261@juno.com We live in Tacoma WA. And I'm not sure what he wants to sell it for. I know he has put a fair amount of money into it. I'm the one with the garrage so we work on it at my place. Ohh how do you do a leak down test? Does anyone know???
  5. how much do want for the stock head?? I am interested so I put it together and sell it!!
  6. how much do you want for the stock head?? I want to put it back together and sell this damn money pit!!!!! Maybe better luck with another one... Thanks
  7. how much do you want for the head??? that would be cool to get then I want to see this damn thing due to all of the problems!!!
  8. I understand that part about why this piston looks like that buy why did it break?
  9. Here is a pic of the plugs I know it's hard to tell the color sorry.
  10. After getting it running this is what happened. For specs etc look at this post. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=28249 Ok we started out with running really rich. 310 main and on middle clip on the needle. It's stock carbs with KNN's. Pulled the plugs and they were really wet and lost of oil. The only other jets we had were 290's and that's what we put in. Then after riding 1hr or so in sand it over heated on a cool day 55deg and raining. My brother was riding it and he said that he was about 1/2 throttle most of the time and then it died and it boiled over a little. He waited about 20 min and kicked it over. Seamed to have a little less compression. Got it running and rode it approx 1/4 mile and then he heard a ping sound and died. The engline was froze. When we pulled the spark plugs they weren't horrible. We pulled the heads off last night and found out that on the right piston the skirt broke. We pulled the piston off and felt the crank. Up and down is tight but side to side has about a 1/4in travel. Also something else that is confusing is that it's still really hard to kick over even with the head off but you can move the pistons. Is that maybe because the Clutch barring went south? If so can you check that without pulling off the side? Lots of questions!!!!!! Thanks in advance Questions. Is there anything we can do about the head? Or just get new? Why would the skirt break? becasue of the over heating? Is there too much play in the crank? Doesn't this side look good?
  11. OK well I feel stupid. They guy that said check the parking break was right. The switch was still plugged in and that was the trouble. Running fine now. Tanks for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 now I can stop and have fun.
  12. We did not install a timming plate. Also we disconnected the T.O.R.S. control box, so that should rule out the parking brake right???? Still not working. Appreciate the help!!
  13. So all last night we tried everything. Adjusted the floats from 16mm to 24mm and very little difference. Tried swapping cleads to the spark plugs, no difference, had a spare CDI and tried it, no difference. Also tried a 240 jet and no difference. Tried many new plugs B8ES and BR8ES, put the floats in water and made sure no leaks. Sync'd the carbs through the sight glass very little difference. Pulled the case of the flywheel side and did a visual and didn't see anything saying hey stupid this is the problem. I'm really lost in the dark. Thanks for the reply's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Check the parking brake??? The chock tube is in place. Don't you find it wierd that there wasn't hardly any change from the 310 to the 200 jet??? It's also a 26mm carb. I'm still confused.... Thanks for the help so far!!!
  15. Ok got a 97 with new topend.. KNN filter stock carb and new pipes... Bike will start on 1st kick and run ok at idle. As soon as you get past 1/8th throttle it boggs like its getting too much gas. had 310 jets in it and went to stock 200's and still very little almost no change. The sound it makes is like when you kick a bike over with the throttle wide open. After that raised the needle to the top and ran a little better at idle but no change after that. Pulled both carbs and cleaned many times and checked parts to the book. Tried adjusting the air screw while running and very very little difference. Noticed that the drain started leaking on the bowl fiddled with the drain screw seamed to help, maybe some gunk? Checked float level's and are spec at 21ish mm. I did a visual on the float and the valve seams to seat ok and there doesn't seam to be holes in it.... Going to the sand this weekend for my bachelor party and really want this thing to run. History on the bike... The bike was bought in parts because it had a spun crank.. Got a good deal $2500 with a new crank and put it together now. Seams to have wonderful compression. All new gaskets, new piston's and bore, Head milled, KNN filter and new pipes with the adjustment on them (sorry can't remember the name/brand), Umm I'll check this post often so please REPLY!!!
