Don't matter none i sold the shee for 2000 can with a TONNE of extra stuff we did adjust the pickup, that helped a little, and some other stuff, now we got spark but its really weak.

I rode on the road once, got pulled over and recived a 260$ ticket. Quads are COPS worst enemy. F*cked if i know why they treat us like shit, after all, i fought the ticket and didn't have to pay, because of a loophole that said riders are allowed to go on road if the ditch is impassible.

Yep, I do have a Yamaha Dealer's Shop Manual For my Banshee. The guide is f*cking handy. My stator Checks out A-ok. My Coil IS BRAND new. The CDI is off another 1988 machine, so i think that it maybe fu*ked too. Im gonna buy a used working one for 400$ from a Dealer. Hopefully that fixes her. Its VEry easy to diasble the TORS with just some wire cutters and a pair of hands to pull off the old peice. I took mine off after the dealer told me how and why and what to cut, about the TORS.

hey a 2003 'shee with Procircuit pipes, Boyseen reeds/Spacer/Boost bottle/ UNI and bearclaw tires for 6000$ (canadian) Is a deal eh? the left front shock was a little bent, but it was pushed back, other than that its mint. my question/beef is should i modify/upgrade the cooling system and the clutch to handle the power of these mods, or can I just skip right to buying a front end suspension kit from alba (shocks/lines/arms) {f anyone wants a 1988 Banshee with 13-44 gearing, 2 sets of rear tires, float gaurds, new cables/ new electrical shit (gotta fix that first) and a fresh rebuild (cases split, 40 thou overbore with wiseco pro-lites, and an extra plate in the clutch) for 2200$ canadian gimme a shout at [email protected]} I ride mostly trails/mx/sand/ditch.

Don't forget to check how much pad is left on your brakes, lug nuts, axle runout ( don't bend it worse), Rear brake hose (wears out fast, best to buy braided steel one), LUBE CABLES with graphite powder, or if your cheap, a little squirt of ATF, Flush your rad every year or so, tighten bolts that hold chain rollers on, and the list goes on. Buy a clymer, or a yamaha dealer shop manual ( IE the Holy Bible of Bansheedom) If anyone has any knowhow on electrical crap take a look at my post "no spark". thanks. Yep my ground is A-OK both plugs, and the switch, and the one at the back of the frame by the CDI

Sorry whats this? Nobody has mentioned the greatest traction tire out there- Kenda Bearclaws. I love mine because they work great in sand, mud, rocks, water, grass,gravel, snow, ice etc however they don't jump great and will bend a stock axle like swiss cheese. They are happy to run at different PSI's - You can run em low for the sand, and high for the trails BUT the all time greatest thing about them- They clean themselves up when your in clay, which makes them PERFECT for those nasty worn out clay filled pitts. On a wet rainy day they CAN'T be beat, just don't take em out when its dry. they will only slow you down on the corners/hardpack.

hey i got a 1988 Banshee and i lost spark about 4 months ago. I replaced the primary/secondary ignition coil, and it ran, albeit harder to start than usual once it was warmed up (5 hard and fast kicks). However, i did hook up the coil backwards and kicked the motor over 5 times before i realized my mistake. Then, about 2 months after i put the coil in the motor lost spark again! i checked the coil- it had no resitance, just like the original one! i cheked the stator- it was up to facory specs. So i took a CDI off another 1988 banshee, and i bought a new coil. So heres where i am as of now. 1) i got a brand new coil again, but it tests the SAME as the 2 other coils! that means no restiance! 2) i got voltage going to the coil 3)The ground on the back of the frame (on the voltage regulation module) is cleaned up So should i 1)buy a new dynatech CDI, NEW Stator, and see where i am from there. 2)put coil in and see if that fixes prob ( i am worried my system might fry the coil somehow?) 3)sell the shee to a blind guy for 20 $ and go buy a good hooker and a bottle of whiskey

Ya man this is one is a tuffy. The 250R handles better and jumps better, im told (never rode one), but is blah in terms of boo-wah! (no power) also, maintaining a R is cheap and they are easy to tune (1 carb/cylinder/exaust!) I am thinking of selling my shee to buy a good 250R

My stator should be good, but i'll recheck. Also i installed new dual stage boyseens (big diff) rejetted .200 on the mains and ill get back to you on the pilots

Here's the story. Im out quadding in brule, by hinton, canada, when my quad runs outta gas. Any attempt to start it thereafter is pointless. even on reserve. Occasoinally, after 3 kicks, it would fire, sputter, and die. So i pushed it 3 kms to camp, in riding boots. Before that, my 1988 banshee would start after 1-4 kicks(it was really wierd, sometimes i needed choke, other times i just gave it gas and vroom) once warm, it would start following this routine- kick (no choke) kick (no choke, just throttle) kick (same as above) Plse note i have no TORS it was disabbled 2 yaers ago Basicly i think my starter circuit is fked. I got spark, etc. Also, when pulled behind something, the motor fires right up. I used to be able to start in 1 kick?WTF
