Hey I'm new to banshees but know quite a bit about 2 strokes. Just bought a 95 shee and i'm having some troubles with it idling. The top end is (supposed) to be rebuilt so i'm thinking its 20? over, It has stock pipes,k&n fillter no outerwear,no lid, trinnity 2 into 1 intake with a kiehin PJ carb 36mm? 34?.
It came with a 72 pilot,152 main needle on 4th position down from top of needle.
The engine runs good past 1/8 throttle but horrible at idle, off idle. When idling one cylinder (left side) seems to be missing really bad. Hardly any smoke comes from that pipe? How can this be with one carb? I've checked the spark, installed new plugs, checked the reeds, checked the compresion and all is good.
With the 72 pilot it barely idles and the choke idle knob is turned all the way out idle mixture screw has NO effect on idle speed/throttle response.
I installed a 60 pilot and this did nothing but make it backfire at idle and run poorly, not even rideable.
I cleaned the carb with compressed air and checked float level(16mm) its good.
With the 72 pilot it would run for 15 minutes then foul the plugs and not restart.
What should the compression tolerance be, between the two cylinders?
Only thing I can think of is crankseals leaking???
Sorry for such a long post for a newb, just wanted to give a good discription of my problem. Any help might save some hair on my head!!!
