New Rebuild Already Shot
TheBansheeMan86 replied to No Limit Powersports's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
alright well i didnt read your entire post or everyone's replies, but i'll tell you a story. last christmas i blew my top end, in oregon. my 'shee (at the time of engine's death): T5s, +4* vitos key, vito superstock pistons (forged, .020 over i think), 1/2" reed spacers, carbon tech reeds on lightly ported cages, K&N clamp ons, boost bottle (some dont like it, but when i took it off, i noticed a loss in bottom end, so im leaving it on), head milled 30/1000", and the ports have been lightly polished, but the port timing wasnt changed. i run 92 octane pump gas from shell mixed with torco smokeless oil. at oregon dunes (florence) its sealevel, i run 360 mains, toomey needles in the um... 3rd or 4th from the top, 4th i think. dunno what pilots or air screw settings off top of head, but it was jetted perfect, if not a little rich. oh, btw i had a toomey hush kit (for sound laws). i was cruising down the flats, grabbin gears, and about half RPM in 6th, i heard a *POP* so.... grr f*ck. it was saturday afternoon, florence yamaha just closed and wouldnt be open till tues so i was like f*ck it, threw it in the trailer and left it there, borrowed a friends spare 'shee. anyway, hole in the top of the left piston. NO sign of lean mixture. NO airleak. NO bad gaskets or seals. plug looked perfectly tan, oh temp was not hot or cold, nice out, and shee was mid temp, 160 i think. so, i actually dont ride much so the 'shee sat in the garage for a few months. anyway i was gonna do the top end myself, but my dad said he'd pay for it to get fixed, so i was like aight, and let Jeff Graves of Graves Motorsports go at it for me. hes a cool guy, knows his shit, and i know him pretty well. hes in seattle, WA so im like 2 hours from him. anyway he did my topend, i just went wisecos, and he did it for $400, done (i only took him engine). funny story though, i was gonna go pick it up one day cause i had to work the next few and wouldnt have time so me and my best friend left ellensburg at 4:30, jeff closes at 6. damn rush hour, usually takes 2:15 in rush hour, we made it in 1:30 lol average speed: 90, no cops the whole way, showed up at jeffs at 6 on the dot. didnt matter when we got there cause it ended up that wiseco fucked up and put a different sized ring in packaging that said it was what it was supposed to be, so jeff was like, well we can go drive to the wiseco distributor (30 min drive) for WA, OR, ID. pretty cool, he does it out of his garage, but has atleast one of EVERY part that wiseco offers, over $1 million in inventory so we rode with jeff and got the damn ring, went back to the shop, put the top end together. anyway, jeff told me the reason it blew was the metal just gave out. he said everything in my engine was advanced but my fuel. my compression was bumped up a little, ignition timing was advanced from degree key, exhaust timing was advanced from the cutout in the vitos pistons, intake timing was advanced from the huge ass ports on the vitos pistons (maybe not advanced, but is open all the time), and i was only running pump. he advised me to ditch the key, and run yamalube. i took his advice, to be on the safe side. now it runs awesome, no problems, even though i miss the fuckload of top end those superstocks give. -
i personally like trinity's new pipes that were recently in dirtwheels, i think at an expo. the titanium pipes with carbon fiber silencers...

How Much Will Porting Make Ur Jetting Go ^^
TheBansheeMan86 replied to sweetshee4312's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
yeah, just start high, and go from there. also i have a Q, right now im running 360 mains @ sealevel, needle in 3rd or 4th position (i forget, 4th i think), i have t5s, milled head, carbon techs on ported cages, 1/2" reed spacers, k&n clamp ons, boost bottle (some say doesnt work, but i took it off and noticed a loss in bottom end, so im leavin it on) and lightly polished ports. i want to get a stage 4 port job, but am curious, where do u find 400+ main jets??? cause if im 360 now, then i just might be 390-400 right? just curious cause i've never seen anything higher than 390.. -

yeah well genious, if it doesnt involve me, then i'm sure it doesnt involve all the other people that read your post, so why post it on a public forum? GENIOUS. -
just curious about the mod on the kickstarter, other than the chain, what did you do to it? is it just a bolt all the way through with a nut on it, or what?

How To Get The Ball Joint Out
TheBansheeMan86 replied to sweetshee4312's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
im not talking about hitting the bolt part of the ball joint, im talking about hitting the side of the SPINDLE. [most of the time] it takes 10 seconds to break the ball joint free of the spindle, and doesnt hurt anything in the process, except scratches the paint on the side of your spindle, which can be avoided easily with a cloth, etc ledofthezep, sorry but your post made zero sense. i'd like to know what you're talking about though. -

How To Get The Ball Joint Out
TheBansheeMan86 replied to sweetshee4312's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i have an easier way than buying a puller (for removing the ball joint from the spindle). hit the side of the spindle (where the ball joint is inside) with a hammer, and the spindle pops right off. -
http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23674 check that out. i posted on that topic, dont feel like typing that much again.

well these are actually some amazing pistons. they are made by wiseco but modified by Vitos (same ones right?). they are lightened, have HUGE ports, so big that they are always taking in fuel during the whole stroke (unlike stock etc), and also have a little "notch" machined out of the front, to advance the exhaust timing. i had a set of these in my 'shee, and they kicked ass! i had top end like a mo'fo'. in fact, i had more top end than my buddy, 2 shees, both T5s, and intake crap, same tires, except he has a nice stage 2 ish port job and standard pistons, and i had no port job and superstock pistons. he had 14/41 gearing and i had 13/43 gearing!!!!!!!! and mine was faster than his!!!!!! he didnt like that seeing how i had $200 pistons and he had $600 porting and mine was faster lol. anyway we "agreed" that they were equal, just for friendship sake. anyway long story short my superstock pistons "gave out" leaving a dime size hole in the top of my left piston. it was NOT from a lean mixture, but pre detenation. the metal just gave away. the right was fine, but the thing was, everything in my motor was advanced, except my fuel. pistons-advanced exhaust timing and more fuel (ports) head- milled so more compression (30/1000") degree key- 4* advanced timing, ports- lightly polished, and i was running 91 octane pump gas. BUT those pistons lasted and ran strong for 2 full years, so i was decently happy. but now i run no degree key, and standard wiseco pistons, just because, well i have plenty of power still, (not as much as before though) and i dont have to worry about lack of reliability. BUT those pistons give u a shit load of top end. in fact i like my bike now cause i have way more bottom end, and is actually rideable in trails lol. but those pistons screamed up hills. in fact my stock clutch went out because of the huge top end power. it would slip at high speeds (5th and 6th gear) because the stock clutch/springs weren't strong enough to "harness" the power. now i run a new ebc clutch with all 6 heavy duty springs, no slippage. my 2 dollars and 2 cents lol

lol thats funny. well just to let you guys know, i have removed my boost bottle and noticed a LOSS in throttle response/low end. so i put it back on, and gained it back. i have tried this several times, and same results. so if it works better [on my banshee] with it on, its just gonna stay. i can see how it might not do anything on other banshees, though. mine is just set up for so much top end that anything will help the bottom end lol. my 2 cents

Extend Own Swingarm
TheBansheeMan86 replied to TheBansheeMan86's topic in General Banshee Discussion
yeah that helps a lot! thanks guys. also, does anyone know what size (length) chain i will need for 4" over? with 13/44 gearing... i was just gonna get a 120 link then cut it down, but it would be nice to know ahead of time -
i plan on extending my own swingarm and was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks on how to do it best. i plan on doin 4" longer, and will have new chain/sprockets and a brake line (even though 4" doesnt need one) i have access to a metals shop, i'll be MIG'ing it, and also what grade/size steel to use? anyway, any tips would be greatly appreciated.
