  1. im pretty sure you wanna keep the temp of your head around 170....for optimum performance. I could be wrong. I have a laser temp gun...if I get a chance I'll run my bike and shoot my jugs.....
  2. I had my frame, swingarm, steering stem, and my footpegs all powdercoated (silvervien) and it only ram me $175. It looks awesome and Ive had a bunch of trips to the dunes on it and my footpegs even still look brand new. It may vary price wise where u go but definatley shop around in your area and see if they have any pictures of bikes they've done. that way you can see what kind of work they do.(quality I mean) hope that helps. ~Shaun
  3. I would just find someone with a gps to get your top speed...as for the ponies, you're gonna want a dyno run...I dunno about where u r but around here I believe you can dyno your bike for around 30-50 bucks. and they'll be able to tell you if you need to change your jetting, timing, also it will tell top speed, max hp, rpms, and they will even be able to simulate a little race with the stats your bike puts out. Its pretty cool if you have some extra jack layin around.
  4. im usually always down in glamis on any given holiday weekend. this years been a little tight with the addition of the baby girl...Id love to hook up w/ any of you guys for some friendly shit talking and a bunch of racing. I usually hang out with superfinishers 2 racing at olds on saturdays...(the drag side of the hill) where all the alcohol bikes are. Lemme know when you go down and we'll try the almost impossible task of finding each other. I did look at a "pro" port job before I started....Im not crazy enough to just start hoggin out metal. anyone who is gonna do it yourself should at least look at how it should be done...you need some kindof idea. I shouldve typed that earlier. I know a sneaky little trick for the transfers too but thats my secret. do research and youll be amazed what you can find and do yourself.
  5. I know of a place here in Az. that has a 20mm crank for sale...only prob is there is no case to fit it in yet....gotta mod your own I suppose.
  6. ya know fellas...I did the same thing(self port job) the match porting is very important, also the transfers. lets just say I would and have put my bike up against ALOT of "proffesionally ported"bikes and walked all over them. I think my favorite bikes to race are people with 370 kits....love the look on thier faces when they ask what I have done and who did it. Overall the reaction is disbelief but dont go knockin on a guy about thinking his bike is fast. It may very well be. My bike has stock carbs and jugs. just ported and polished and im kickin out over 70hp on the dyno. So for all you do it yourselfers out there, kee on hoggin them babies out..(heh, it never hurts to know how to tig weld in case you get a little over zealous;) )
