  1. And ya you will need to get that one put back together and refilled. Check out the local shops... someone should be able to do it for you. Your profile says you're from Dallas so it shouldn't be a problem finding someone to do it.

  2. Those are definately not stock springs... the 450 springs are dual rate with tighter coils at the end. That being said those ones may actually work better with stock Banshee a-arms. The stock 450 springs are too long for a banshee and make it sit higher even with the springs backed right off. So if those ones are shorter they may work better on a Banshee. I would just try them out and see... you allready have them so it won't cost you anything to try them. Just make sure that once you install them and set up the ride height that there is still some tension on the springs when they are fully extended or you could pop a clip out. It shouldn't be a problem since your ball joints will limit the travel long before the shocks max. If the spring tension isn't off by too much, too hard or too soft, then you may have actually lucked out. Once you upgrade to extended a-arms though you will probably need to get them resprung.

  3. I live in Canada and have ordered lots of stuff from the U.S. I have to pay our taxes when I recieve it. Also some shipping companies charge you to cross the border. UPS is the worst... they rape you when they cross the border, they call it brokerage fees. FedEx is not as bad but they still charge you. USPS/Canada Post is the best, they don't charge anything extra exept the taxes. It usually take 1.5-2 weeks to get most things shipped here from U.S. regardless of which mode of shipping is used. I would think it should work the same in reverse...

  4. Hey all... there is a +4 ladder type swing arm in the "For Sale" forum... I've been looking for one but I've always thought the ladder type were not as strong, more for drag and duning. Are they ok for all round riding? I thought I heard about someone breaking one a while ago... might have been BigRed.

  5. I had another thought of maybe making new lower mounts on the A arms to move the shock out an inch instead of messing with the frame, plus the new lower mount will mean no grinding on the shock to make it fit. Although the increased angle might make them a little stiffer where as new uppers I can move the top out slightly to make them stand up straighter.

You have it backwards... standing them up straighter will make them stiffer... the more of an angle they are on the less they have to move in relation to the tire. So the steeper the angle the softer they will feel. You're better off leaveing the upper mounts alone, that way you could always go back to proper shocks later, if you get new a-arms or something. The problem with 450 shocks on a Bnashee with stock a-arms is not the shock mount, it's that the ball joints don't have enough travel to let the shocks extend all the way. Moving the mounts will lower the ride hieght but you will still have the binding ball joint issue. I run Elka 450 shocks on mine but I have aftermarket a-arms with heim joints so they will take the full travel of the 450 shock without binding. Also when I got them made up I ordered them with the lower mounts moved out 3/4" to get the proper installed length/ride hieght. They work great... but for stock a-arms I wouldn't bother. Use them as they are for now and save your money to get some aftermarket a-arms when you can afford them. If you really wana mess with the mounts leave the top ones alone and move the bottom ones out, but you wont gain any travel you'll just lower the ride hieght.

  6. I started using Amsoil Dominator about 3 years ago, mixed at 50:1. I change my plugs once at the start of each riding season and the ones I take out are still in great shape. I pulled my cylinders off last winter to change out a broken stud and my pistons looked great also... replaced them anyway since they were a couple years old. I used to use Opti synthetic and it ran just fine but after 2 years there was some light scoring on the pistons. Amsoil has been good for me. I have never tried any of their tranny oils though, I use Honda HP synthetic.

  7. They are the same as all the other yfz 450 shocks except they have both high and low speed compression adjustments. You will still need to modify them to make them fit. The sticky at the top of this forum has all the details.

The new 09 yfz450r will probably have different shocks though... longer if nothing else.
