  1. Thanks for tryin to help. I'm suprised I can't find too much useful info on the web about powder coating. I did see the "red vein". Isn't it used with gray or black also? Where the red just takes the place of the silver. Basically askin for a red base with silver accent, for lack of better terminology. Maybe I'm lost cause I don't know how the "vein" works. Is it a 1 step/1product, 1 step/2product, or 2 step/2product application? Can someone explain that part for me?
  2. Just a question, but did you remove the old slider, and its metal band?
  3. I'm looking for some info on Powder coating, and searches on BHQ and the web provided little to no answers. The biggest question I have is: Can the "silver vein" be used with colors other than "grey" or "black"? I think a meduim/dark red, with the silver vein look would be great. Color, yet a "texture" to help hide scratches and such. I couldn't find it on any of the color charts I found on the web. Also, who are some experienced shops to deal with the Portland OR greater metro area? I just need to be pointed in the right direction, as usual. Thanks
  4. Thanks a whole bunch. Yup, your right about the engagement dogs, just couldn't remember how the builder put it. Now all I have to do is go over what all I want, and see what it's gonna cost. Any other input would be great, also. Just wanna make sure I don't waste any money. I trust the builder, so far, but one never knows. Another question, is boring stock carbs ok for a mild build? Its half price of new carbs.
  5. After reading the other 4mm stroker posts, I have come to the following conclusion, please verify if I'm wrong or right. 1.After paying for a new or modded crank, I will still have to pay the $300_$400 for a port job. I was hopin to get the crank, go 1 over on the pistons, new head, reeds/cages, advance timing, lighten flywheel, etc., but wasn't ready for the added cost of porting. 2.I'm not looking for a race port, so would most shops reduce the cost for making the ports match the new setup? 3. Also, the local shop I talked to wants me to change to "TZ" crank bearings, put a bearing in the clutch case for the ball to ride on, and basically machine off 50% of the "splines" off my tranny gears (more like a honda tranny)(These are my interpretations) All this sound OK, or bad idea, or?? I was just hopin to open the case once, gain some torque with the crank, then I could always upgrade the port work, carbs, and such as I feel I need it. Any ideas?
  6. Can't believe I didn't see this one posted: Gas, Grass, or A$$; No one rides for free. first and last just seem to naturally go with a banshee, to each his own on the second.
  7. Ooops. didn't mean to stir the shit, but was readin through all the posts and saw someone else "say" it. Shit man, I still run glass packs!! But I do need to get me a 2lb. coffee can for an exhaust tip. Just playin, to each his own. Just not my style tho.
  8. Yup, need that "both" button. I gots a 72 K5 Blazer, sittin on 35's, and a 72 C10 longbed lowered(not slammed). Too bad both these "trucks" need work, age related, not cause they're chevy's  Guess that's why I'm also driven a '03 Ranger. Yes, I'm a trader, but atleast I can get to the dunes now. (thought I was the only one to say the lowered honda's sound like weed wackers! LOL)
