  1. don't matter what swingarm you use, won't change ground clearance at the axle carrier. what you need, is change to a higher tire/wheel package. if you want your fenders to wing upward to LOOK higher, at the grab bar brace where it bolts to the rear fender, remove the bolt, add a 1/4-1/2 inch spacer and replace with longer bolt. this will raise your rear fender tips at least by 1inch. making it look sportier.
  2. what color are yours? upper and lower the same color? or mixed up like mine? my buddy bought a set for his cannondale same time as me, his set is candy red, uppers and lowers same color. he was screwed around on the time line as well, but his arms match.
  3. i've spent the last 2+ weeks do'ing research, making phone calls, shopping the web sites, in search of all long travel shock options and comparing prices. thought i would post some of this to help, or save time for anyone else who tries this upgrade. or is curious on what is available. as i was curious 3 weeks ago. elka's are good, just like most other shocks in that price range. most of my racing buddies/partners that have elka's said elka's were under sprung at first, but elka quickly fixed them with no charge except shipping. but personally, i would go with Works Pro series, or blackwidows before buy'ing elka's. and i'd buy Ohlin's before Works, and Axis, is just crazy priced, forget them unless your sponsored.
  4. yea, threads like that are dumb. and people who make stupid replies "micheal" before reading the whole thread are even dumber! the question is who makes LT shocks other than elka. do a search you'll find 100 adds for elka. no one other than elka, and tcs lists LT shocks for a banshee. no one knows my riding style or ability, so who can tell me what i need? no one but myself. besides, a good shock company custom biulds there shocks for the riders style. i ride fox evol's on our r&d machine on the weekends and love them. never had any issues. thats why i bit the bullet, and ordered FOX EVOL's. second choice was Ohlin's. cause i use them on my cannondales and they work great as well. fox's are alot more plush and the adjustability blows all other shocks off the track. also, did you know fox has been around longer than elka? fox shocks have been around since the late 70's on motorcycles. thanks for the input.
  5. not a fan of elka's... besides, the red will clash with my blue/silver. ha,ha i called fox, waiting for an answer back on prices to make them for me. i also called works direct. they don't have them listed anywhere, but they will make them upon request. pro g's, pro's series, blackwidows or whatever you want. i also called t.c.s/racetech. they don't have resy's or rebound adjustment on there's. they said in about 2-3 months they'll have new models out that will have these adjustments. this just in... FOX returned the call. FOX does have long travel evo's to fit my laegers! if anyone else is interested, they are the SAME as raptor 700 long travel shocks built for Gibson arms. fox part no# 830-21-029evol. 18" eye to eye / 12" compressed / 6" stroke, these are the specs. i smell a product review coming up soon.
  6. i have a post running in the suspention section about the shocks. i've been calling around, every day. my latest delema, i found ohlins, piggyback, fully adjustable shocks for polaris predator, 17.88 inches long that sounds like they'lll fit perfectly, for $600 on sale. just not 100% sure they'll fit. and they have 5 1/2" stroke. stock banshee has 4 1/2" , long travel banshee measures out to have 6-6 1/2" stroke. i may loose an inch of travel with these shocks but for the price?? is it worth it? decisions, decisions..... still no word back from fox on prices for a custom set biult. works will make me blackwidows or there pro g 4 series, both are fully adjustable for between $700-900 a pair. the same comparable shocks from elka are $1300+. tcs is $950 limited adjustments.
  7. o.k. heres the story i called Laegers, placed an order for +2/+1 long travel banshee arms. no problem, said it'll be 3-4 week wait period. o.k. 4 weeks latter, there really busy, it'll be another week till they get to them. o.k. week latter i call, they say they're done go'ing to powdercoat. it'll be another week. week latter i call, they said they're still in process of welding them, it'll be 2 more weeks till finish. 2 weeks latter i call, they tell me they're done, waiting to get back from powdercoat. it'll be another week. week later i call, they say some how they welded the upper arms -1 instead of +1. F*ck! how does a company who specailizes in a-arms fuck this up? anyhow, they need to make another set. it'll be couple more weeks. approx. 2.5 - 3 weeks latter, they show up. i finally got them after WAITING 2.5 MONTHS! if i know this upfront, i would have bought another brand. appearance.... i really like the candy blue finish. couple of flaws here and there but, hey, these things are gonna get beat on! allthough, top arms are silver and lowers are blue? i ordered them in blue... not mix and match? and these DO NOT include bushings. for the price, most other brands include bushings, and some even include sleeves. scott at leagers tells me " just beat out your old ones and reuse them ". STUPID! that DAMAGES them! F*ck that! point is to freshen up the front, not rig it together half ass. anyhow, for $12. mike @ American Star hooked me up with 12 new delron bushings. also, there are a couple grease zerks missing. scott tells me. "i'll just mail you a couple of them". yeah, that was 3 weeks ago, still none have arrived. can you say LAZY! the install..... first off, the bushings didn't fit. i had to dremal, sand out the powdercoating biuld-up from the pockets. upon closer inspection, there was weld spers, weld burn throw biuld ups as well. it looked like a F*CK'in stalag-tight hanging in one. "excuse the spelling". i had to GRIND these out and custom fit 3 of the pockets. second, after drilling and installing the grease zerks and holes, they didn't de-bur the holes. when looking through arms you could easily see metal flakes sticking down from the holes. probably the first time i would have greased these the grease would have pushed the metal shavings straight into the NEW bushings. ALSO, the upper arms grease zerks are positioned toward the rear of the arm, directly in line with the shock. making it VERY difficult to grease, i may even have to remove upper shock bolt, and pull shock outward to re-grease. third, no biggy, lower shock bolts are now too short. i guess scott figures everyone can magically pull a couple of these out our ass's. fourth, either the uppers are to short or the upper ball joints are to short, not threaded enough. i have VERY limited adjustment. its acually on the limit of out-of adjustment. i can almost adjust it so the wheel is close to straight up - vertical. or i can adjust it so the wheel tops angle inward - toward frame. and i have NO adjustment forward or back at the spindle/hub. AGAIN, for the price i paid, other brands have these adjustments. this piss's me off... after mounting everything, my shocks i planned on useing ended up being too short. so now, i'm stuck without shocks. so i can't do a shake down and see how things work or handle. more feedback to come.... . after all this, i say SCREW LAEGER's and there high price's, poor service, lazy employees, and there unfinished products.
  8. i recently installed long travel laeger arms. the shocks i had for them ended up be'ing too short. so i need new shocks. i called my shops parts supplier "parts unlimited" about Works shocks. Works don't make long travel pro series, pro g series, black widows, or any other LT shock for banshees. Fox, also has nothing listed for long travel setups. but i'll be calling them on monday to confirm and see if they'll make me a set. i have only found T.C.S. and Elka's listed so far. anyone know where i can find another option? or if Works or Fox's are availible in long travel?
  9. i feel for ya man. women get greedy on break ups. i'm 30+, i've seen my mom go through 3 marriages. she CLEANED house each time, took everything weather she needed it or not, sold or trashed what she didn't want. f#cked them over bad each time. least you don't have child support, bitches milk that out. all i can say is, bitch MUST die! burn the house! opps, did i say that out loud?

    yfz

yfz? yfz350. sure, yfz350 arms bolt right on, no mods. shocks too
  11. i just got my set. 2.5 months after ordering. i was so happy, then i find no bushings included? missing grease zerks? no caster adjustment? now i gotta go buy more parts, or as they said "just beat out your old ones and use them" yeh, after they get smashed and scared up..... for paying top dollar for these, i thought they would be the trickest, and ready to install. they are pretty, candy blue.
  12. i called houser, they won't make banshee arms any more. not enough demand for them.
  13. ebc's - suck balls - slipped right from the start, with a mod'd motor. barnetts - good toomey - i found to work the best and last the longest, gonna pay $100+.
  14. i run out of gas alot, when i notice i loose power and only 1 cylinder is running, i back off the throttle, reach down turn on reserve and normally the other cylinder wakes up, and keeps on rollin. never have to stop. i never lost a motor yet, from running out of gas. guess i'm always at mid throttle or less with it happens....? or maybe i know when to get off the throttle. or maybe???? i don't know, to many possibility's.
  15. i ride a 450 CANNONDALE, made in USA, efi, alum frame, with honda 250r geometry, when not on the banshee, got one for the wife too. ktm 525, ? to those who don't understand, bigger displacment isn't always faster. friend of mine rode the 525, said it could be something but needs some mods to wake it up. not as fast as our moded 450 cannondales and his 450r, but it handled good. i'm waiting to see yamaha's new 500cc twin banshee, 4 stroker. anyone see the spy pics yet? i think they were in dirt wheels a little while back.
  16. from the looks of that 450 set-up, those front shocks are gonna coil bind in no time? is there any travel benifit, or gain from the 450 arms? just wondering.....
  17. NO !!! !!! ! !! just changing spring WILL NOT work!!! you need to shorten the internal shaft length, install spacers on it, or install a shorter shock eyelet.
  18. remember, spacing wheels away from the spindles, "turning point" will make steering harder.
  19. urg... i ordered them in blue. should be here this week sometime. hopefully.
  20. the 87 should have the same hubs on it. i had a 87. i use my old 87 race rims on my 99. i think 89-91 is the years they had the wider bolt pattern. unless the previous owner switched them out.
  21. o.k. its been about 7 weeks now since the order has been placed. there still not finished, i called today and they say it'll be 2 more weeks! thats what they said 2 weeks ago! i'll have waited 2 months for these dam arms till i finally get them, if i get them? i'm REALLY starting to get PISSED OFF! thinking of cancelling the order, if this is the service i'll recieve! i could have had lone stars or houser's by now. has laegers customer service been this shity for you guys?
  22. you may need revalved, and new spring rate? by spacing wheels outward, +2,+3 what ever, and also long travel a-arms sometimes change shock angle and leverage ratio making shocks feel softer, bottom out easier.
  23. i'm 6'1" and use fmf 909 bars, they have like a 5 or 6" rise. made a great difference in manuvering. i like to ride, or feel like i'm piloting behind the bars. not on top looking down over the front end like i get from low bars.
  24. my old toomeys were bare metal, i painted them every time i had a reason to remove them. looked good after painting but it never lasted very long. paint would alway burn off about 6 inches from head. no matter what temp paint i used. PLATE THEM! and take care, keep them clean.
