jlsparky7 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) The instructions for installing this axle are pretty bad. I just need some help with the placement of everything. I already got the old axle out (it was a PITA). I know I dont need the small spacer, just the large one. I also have the picture of where everything is supposed to go. It doesnt show which direction everything goes which seems kinda dumb. I have the 3 peice lock nut, 2 cir-clips, large spacer, I think that its. If anyone could help explain this it would help out alot. Thank you for your time in advance. Yes I did a search and I will just ignore flamers. Edited May 10, 2007 by jlsparky7 Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 3 pice lock nut on the left and one circlip inside. then use the metal ring on the right side after the disc brake hub and put a circlip inside that also. I think this is how it goes, I just got mine back from rockymountain and have to install it again. If something doesn't make sense sorry I have all the pieces in a bag and I am not 100% sure how they go again Quote

Hollister_Hitman Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Yup, thats how mine went in. thanks, i hope sparky understands it Quote
jlsparky7 Posted May 10, 2007 Author Report Posted May 10, 2007 They go like this then. Assumming you have the cir-clips in the slots? Brake side: Sprocket side: Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) yeah like that. Then the ring can't slide over the circlip and it helps hold the axle in place Edited May 10, 2007 by Hollister_Hitman Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Alright, thanks. did you get it all installed Quote
jlsparky7 Posted May 10, 2007 Author Report Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) No not yet. I was all worn out after fighting to get the stock axle out. I think I might hold off and throw some new bearings in while im at it. Im also gunna install a grease fitting on the carrier. Edited May 10, 2007 by jlsparky7 Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 When installing my G Forece someone suggested to drill & tap a zerk into the carrier. I think that's a pretty good mod  Quote
jlsparky7 Posted May 29, 2007 Author Report Posted May 29, 2007 I got it installed with the new bearings. Works great, thanks for all the help guys. Ill be throwing a grease fitting on there as well. Excellent suggestion. I dont know why they didnt design it that way to begin with. Man I love RMATV with there cheap prices and fast shipping :-) Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 The grease zerk is a great mod, but it won't do you any good, unless you pull the inner seal, out of each bearing. Another thing, when using the grease gun, don't keep pumping until grease runs out past the seals. Just grease it, until you feel some pressure at the grease gun handle. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 You want to be carefull with metal shavings falling into the carrier! Quote
Devans Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 I got mine put in and noticed one of my c rings are bigger than the other and serve absolute no purpose... Anyone else have this problem, i sent an email to rm.com and will update you all on what they do for me.. Quote
