pinned247 Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 (edited) Ok, I just put FMF fatty's and PC2 silencer on the shee. I jetted the main at 260 and the pilot at 25 I'm currently riding in an elevation that varies from about 1,120 ft to 1,230 ft. I have a K&N air filter FMF fatty's and PC2 silencer and no snorkel on my air box. The first ride was great. No bog what so ever, eveything responded awesome! I took it out for a quick ride yesterday and it seemed like it didn't want to idle...it would stall at a stop if I wasn't revving it. It also seemed that at 1/4 throttle it wasn't responding as well as it was the first time I took it out. Another thing is when I looked in the drip pan this morning there was some gas in there. Could this all be that I just have to adjust the air, drainage and idle screws? Or do I have to go up on the mains? I know I'm going to catch hell off everyone but I haven't had a chance to check the plugs yet..... :ermm: From the sounds of things what would you think is causing this? bbcmudtruck Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 I ran the same jetting at 1000ft with the same mods. I'm guessing you need to pull your carbs back off and clean out all of the jets. Sounds to me like a clogged pilot. Do not use a q-tip!! Run a guitar string or something through all the jets with some carb cleaner. Quote

TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Idle screws need adjusting... modifications like this will not use the same idle adjustments as stock. We talked about this. We both knew that it would be 25 or 27.5. PJ ran 27.5 with the same mods before porting and bore work. Go up one size on the pilots, leaving the air screws at 1.5 turns out. You have a simple fix... no need to worry. You boguht a banshee, expect to be tuning it! But once dialed in, you are good to go until winter. Then you will need just 1 different size on just the main. Clockwise to make the engine idle faster... they are on top of the tors, and make sure they are both set identical to each other. That is all that is wrong there. One size off on the pilots will make this happen. And the thing you talk about with the other day.... how the bike ran great. You took it out by the house I believe you told me. Yesterday you took it from your house all the way to the Dessert. That motor wasn't cool by any means in yesterdays temps. A hot motor acts like this. You must take that into account. Quote
mopar1rules Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 yeah, i would up the pilots to 27.5 and possibly even up the mains to 270 or 280. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 His bike is running good now. I took a look at it and we gapped the plugs a tad tighter to .025. Richened up his pilot circuit a half turn and that cleared up the bottom end. And we synched his idle on both sides as the left was running slower than the right, causing it to pop and sputter. But he is very synchronized on both sides now, and the bike is running great. He should be a happy camper! Quote
pinned247 Posted August 25, 2008 Author Report Posted August 25, 2008 I'm a very happy camper. The way my bike is running makes me pitch a tent. lol I hate having to worry about the stupid filter though without the air box lid...I guess i'll get over it. ...and I started it up again and I may need to take the idle down a little...it seems like it's idleing a tad too high now.. TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Just play with the idle, and see where it likes to be once it is warmed up. Also, don't forget to gap your plugs from here on out. And you don't have a thing to worry about with the airbox lid off. As long as you don't hit puddles at a high rate of speed, you are good. Banshees were not made for that. Quote
