headlight probs, no work after engine swap

i swapped engines in my banshee with a ported one, with newer modle stator. so i cut the wires and used sealed quick connectors to install the engine. they did work for about a month, but now they stopped. after i built my stroker motor i put the engine back in with the original stator. i checked all my connections and also my tail light works just fine. i ohm'ed the wires and found no breaks, and no grounding out. i have a haynes manual, but honestly by this thing it should be working. any ideas? i know they weigh the bike down and people remove them, but i want them for the just incase. also they are super small oval fog light from a car.
