MikeNick Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 So I went to change my clutch out today and found what looks to be part of a snap ring or e clip and a whole smaller snap ring layin in my clutch cover...So nowwww Im all freaked out.. My kick idle gear wobbles back and forth so I think that may be where they are from. Is the kick idle gear the gear that the actuall gear on the kickstart shafts connects withs because that is the one that is wobbly...But heres some pics..Thank god no carnage... KaosBanshee44 Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Yes the gear that sits behind the clutch cluster is the idler gear. If you got a kick lever and connected it to your kickstart assembly the gear on it moves up and connects with the idler gear. Check the idler gear and see if the snap ring is still on it i've heard of them coming off. Quote
Hilarious Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 yes, that looks like the snap ring and washer off the kicker gear. you will need to pull the clutch to get to it. Quote
BenBB Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Yep mine ate that too, you can get a new bushing for the idler gear along with that washer & snap ring (got mine from FAST)...it left an impression in the clutch drive gear and was a good excuse to upgrade to a billet basket  Quote

Like Dave said the only thing that sucks is you have to disassemble your clutch cluster to get to it. Also a great time for upgrades while everything is apart. Quote

Also a great time for upgrades while everything is apart. you are right. wont see me say that often. lol now would be a good time to at least put a better adjuster w/pancake bearing, and modded shift shaft w/ easy spring.
