mackshell Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Why is it the carbs leak gas from overflow if you do not turn gas off? I have had many a two strokes in my day that have never leaked gas and I never had to shut off gas pettock..... My Banshee is like new....! Quote
LiftdT4R Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Your floats either arent set correctly, or are dirty. Search around, there are a lot of topics on it. Quote
LiftdT4R Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 On all my Banshees I've had, if I leave the gas on, I get about an ounce or two of spilled gas on the floor when I come back the next day. A certain amount is going to be expected. In fact Ive even see 4 stroke bikes do that. If you get a lot, if it's like emptying out your tank then you have some carb issues. This has been covered ALOT before. Quote
sheefreak Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 The floats can easily be adjusted to not leak any fuel. Quote
shanYE west Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 The floats can easily be adjusted to not leak any fuel. Unless their like mine and just fill the cylinders up at the track!!! :wallbash: Like Damien said, They can be adjusted not to leak. if they still leak after adjustment.. then they probably could use a good ol' cleaning like previously said. OKCterror Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 im going threw the same thing and all im doing is adjusting and testing, it sucks but its the price you pay for speed. Quote
dajogejr Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 If the carb is clean, the floats are set correctly and the drain line on the bottom of the carb is seated and clean, they should not leak, period. With the bike running, turn the fuel valve off. Let it run for another 10 seconds, give the throttle two or three raps (quickly) than turn the bike off. This will burn off some fuel so the bowls aren't so full... But if you have dirt or a leak somewhere, it will only stop the drip until the fuel has time to fill the bowls back up. When you say it's leaking...is it coming from the higher hoses, on the left and right side of the carbs, close to the motor side, or the single tube on the bottom? Quote
