STINKYDELUXE Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 is 195 and 190 psi too high? the reason im asking is because my plugs are backing out, like 5 time a day at the dunes . i run 110 octane and it runs great but something has to be wrong. Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Is your timing advanced? If so, how much? Quote
okbeast Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Plugs backing out usually means it's getting a lean detonation. You definately should NOT run it after this happens. Check your timing, check for air leak, check your jetting, etc. Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 im running a 10 mil stroke with a supercub, 25cc head the timming is at 7 although im thinking alot about running 8, cpi inframe pipes, 39 pwks the running temp is around 180 - 200 Quote
moneybags Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 What size jets are you running? You should do a leak down test befor you ride it anymore. Better safe then sorry. Definitely dont up the timing if it is pushing the plugs out now... From what I understand 185psi is about all you want to run for compression. Quote
shanYE west Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 I was running 195-200lbs on mine with 13 on the plate.. but i'm running alky too.. Like okbeast and moneybags said.. i'd do a leak down and if that passes... you must be lean your jetting.. Quote
sheefreak Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Where did you get your domes? Did you have them cut? What is your squish at? I ran a gas motor at 195 psi for two seasons...I did back out the plugs on a couple occasions, but the few times, something was not right(lean jetting, and had oring sealing problem causing a coolant leak). And as mentioned, definately don't up the timing till you get it straightened out. Oh, and one other question. Are you running a stock cdi? Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 I'm running a stock cdi. I got the domes from rdz they said 25 on them. i didn't check the squish , how do you check it? Quote
rubberneck Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 What jetting are you running in your 39s pilot/needle/ clip on the needle and mains? Quote
Snopczynski Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Obviously its not a good idea to go to +8 timing if your backing the plugs out at +7. Yes it sounds like its too much. Hard to say exactly without some squish numbers to back up the suspicion. Another option is to track down some 114 octane. Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 im trying to get a friend to check the squish. im in Kuwait right now. what kinda squish number should i be hopeing for? I dont rember what jets and needles we used. Quote
