keeping paint looking new

what are some tips and tricks for keeping you plastics looking new after you have had them in the elements talking to you guys with custom paint cause i am getting my plastics painted and need to know would a good first step be to get a few extra coats of clear cause i am getting show paint but iam still going to ride the crap out of it cause who wants a nice bike just to look at and i have seen tons of sweet paint jobs on here so how do you guys keep them looking new and sorry for long post had alot to ask

If you're going to ride out in the sticks then it's gonna be impossible. If it's just a duner or open trail area bike then just get an extra coat of clear, wax it often just like car paint.

yea that what i thought extra clear coat it will be in the woods but i dont plan on running into bushes and trees and what wax should i use i was thinking something high grade like mothers

I use mothers wax for everything i just haven't found anything to out do them so far.

thats what i thought it gives everything a deep luster wet look weeks later also how long should i wait after it is painted before i start waxing i was guessing 4 monthes sinse they recomend 9 months before you wax a car with fresh paint wut do you guys think 4 months to long or not enough

I got my plastics painted about 3-4 months ago and still haven't put a coat on mine yet but i haven't been riding mine it just sits in the garage for now until i ever get my damn motor back

i guess i will wait 4-6 months before i wax it and thanks for tha help and your paint job is sweet you dont need wax for that thing but i guess with a 10mill you have to wax it after you wash the bugs off the front end

Saying that you are going to try to not hit bushes and trees, etc. when riding to save your plastics is a bad idea.

You'd be suprised how much a branch here and there will dull your bike up.

 

I've been using FW1...it sprays out of a can like WD40, and you wipe it down and off. Pretty easy.

 

I have never used Mothers, but I'm going to look into it, taking the price and how well they work into account. Maybe I'll switch.

I don't know about on plastics but if they are clear coated like a car then I would use P21s wax and Klasse paint sealer both can be found here http://www.autopia-carcare.com/

wait 90 days before waxing. thats what i would tell all my customers, that way you can insure all the solvents have escaped.. otherwise you will encounter problems that you dont want to deal with...as far as care....wax it as if it were a car...meguries NXT works very well or use system one for those minor scratches... and always remember as with anything you get what you pay for!!!! good custom paint is NOT cheap!!!
