SUPRBRD Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Just wondering what you might keep an eye out for when buying a used Banshee? I first used the search function but only came up with "how much is my banshee worth" so if someone could tell me what some common problems are and things to look forwhen buying used, that would be a great help. or even point me in the right direction to some info. You can still buy Banshees new here but this is the last year. I rather buy used and save the cash. the one im looking at is a 2000 and its $3500. seems high to me for an almost 9 year old machine. Its pretty much stock plastics have a few white marks on them. Thanx, Dan Quote
jamebo Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Welcome to HQ, Dan. I would do a compression check on the engine. Also take a look at the cases on it and make sure there are no cracks in it from the chain breaking and hitting it. And check the air filter for what kind of shape it's in. Someone who doesn't clean and oil their filter regularly may be a sign of near future engine problems. Also check the bearings and sprockets for wear. And if possible, get them to let you ride it first to see how well it runs/idles. Someone else may have more suggestions. I know what you mean about high priced used Shee's..... they are very expensive around where I live. I saw one in a cycle trader today, a '94 that they wanted 3500 for. Quote
SUPRBRD Posted July 7, 2008 Author Report Posted July 7, 2008 Thanx for the reply, here is a link to the ad. http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detailinfo.aspx?ID=32434505&pgno=1&srt=1 it just seems a lil steep to me. there are alot more Banshee's for sale in the U.S. but im not doing the whole importing thing again. did it once for a car. cost me more for the fee's and shipping then i paid for the car itself. I would really like one that i could customize myself to make it my own so as long as there are no major issues, (non-repairables) im game. Dan Quote
