ahcgt Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Couldn't get the bike started the other day because of a flywheel key being sheered. I checked compression and it was 165 in each cylinder cold. Got it running and it runs strong but hesitates a lil before it gets into the powerband and at the very top of the powerband it will kind of bog again. What could this be? Quote

It's also leaking gas from the overflow tube on the carb and leaking coolant through a 2 of the cool head studs. How hard is this going to be to fix? Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 did you ever set the float level in the carb? Quote
ahcgt Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 did you ever set the float level in the carb? Nope. Didn't know I would have to... How do I know where to set it to? Could this be causing it to bog before the powerband and on top end a little? Quote

The carb doesn't sit perfectly level when installed in a banshee, and it doesn't come on the banshee, so of course you have to set the float level. It might cause the bog, but probably not. its 11mm from bowl mating surface to float seam. The float arm needs to be barely touching the needle and not pressing it in at all. Dont ever run stepped keys, only use a timing plate or dyna cdi to advance timing. Quote

I'm guessing I need to take the bowl off and work from there while its on the bike? I'm using a timing plate to advance the timing. Key is a little wore out and one thing led to another. Thanks Quote
