Ok here is where I am at. Picked up an 01 shee that had the top end wasted and suffered from general neglect. Did a lot of cleaning, replaced the top end, and find I have no spark. I have swapped out the coil with a known good one - that made no difference. At three times in the last two days (I still have a carb issue to figure out too) while kicking it we saw a weak spark. That tells me the wiring is good. When we tried pull starting it down the street, the lights worked, so it is making some type of electrical power... bypassing the kill switch doesn't change the situation...

I am thinking it is a bad stator. there was a bunch of crud under the sidecover when I had it off, and I actually had to take a bit of steel wool the the two magnets on the outside of the flywheel (?)..

any ideas on if this is correct, or any other items to check?

Also where is the cheapest place to buy a OEM stator?

Thanks in advance for the help..

Have you tested the lower unit on the stator? (aka pick-up coil) if your stator and your coil check out good, then your on the hunt for a CDI box. find someone else who has a banshee , take your CDI off and plug it into their bike. if theirs dont run no more then you found your prob! I just went thru this on my wifes 94 banshee.

you said a weak spark I would check the gap on the pick up coil first before buying anything.....i had the same problem with mine even with a new stator being out of gap will give you a hell of a time to get fired up..........

Stator more than likely...

Do you have stock end caps on the coil leads. They are known to go bad and you can replace those with quality NGK plug caps for about 10 bucks or so shipped.
