P-man Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 hey i pulled my carbs off to clean and ajdust them, they sort of bogg in the low end. i pretty sure they are a lil rich. the mains are 280 and the pilots are 35s. i was thinking about going down to a 30. sound reasonable? Quote
okbeast Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Stock carbs? Need more like a 25 or 27.5 pilot where you're located. 35 is ridiculous Quote

You sure you didn't misread the size of those, they are hard to see. Quote
P-man Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 (edited) You sure you didn't misread the size of those, they are hard to see. yea, i am 99% sure they are 35's. they are big carbs though. the carbs are 34mm mikuni carbs with the 280 main jets. i also have a mild port, t-5s, K&N pods, v force reeds, reed spacers. i think thats everything Let me know what you think, Thanks Parker oh one more thing, the carbs are also set up to run alcohol if you switch out the main jet and open up this top valve/vent thing, i am not sure exactly though, i have yet to try it. okbeast Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Is it a powerjet? if they're setup for alky it's gonna be hard to get 'em to run good with gas. Quote
P-man Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 Is it a powerjet? if they're setup for alky it's gonna be hard to get 'em to run good with gas. Well, i am not really sure. what is a power jet. i ll get a pic of them. Quote

okbeast Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Can you take a pic of the left carb laying the other way. It looks like the powerjets are backwards. And ur gonna have a hard tiem getting those to run on gas I'd bet. Most people don't try to de-tune an alky carb to run on gas. Are you wanting a set of stock carbs or some aftermarket ones or what? The previous owner said that if i want to run alky, i just pop in the different jets and stuff and tune those power valve things. Sound right? ill try to get some better pics too Edited June 24, 2008 by P-man Quote

Well i think they are alky carbs or normal carbs that were made into alky carbs. The prev owner said to just shut the power valve when not on alky and to switch out the jet and column thing or "emulsion tube" as i just learned via e2s. well it just boggs in the low end. just seems a lil rich at the beginning and eventually opens up and then it seems to run good. okbeast Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Usually the mains and dump tubes are drilled for alky carbs as well, but who knows with these. Try getting a smaller pilot, or actually try finding out what the stock pilot is for those, then go from there. Quote
