bansheejoel Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 i was wondering if its possiable to break a trans gear by tightening down the clutch basket nut. I wouldnt think so b/c the engine puts out more force than 66ft lbs. if you were to dump the clutch....what do you guys think? Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Not that I am aware of unless you didnt line up the gears before tightening... Quote

Not real sure what the correlation is between the engine output and the torque on the clutch basket but no, the clutch basket bolt can cause bearing failures if assembled wrong but not cause trans problems. The counter sprocket however, can cause problems. brandon Quote
