Loki Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Has anyone used those taper bearing carrier's you get off of ebay as I bought one and when I went to fit it, I realised that the rear caliper mount bracket was about 50 mm away from where it should be. Anyone know anything about these... or did I just waste my money on a dud product? Quote
DILUSI Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 what one did you go with from ebay. i used a modquad carrier before and had no problems with it at all. is there anyway you can drill out the hole the get the bolt threw? but then again 50mm is a good off set to try and massage to work for ya. Dick Wheels Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 (edited) I bought one of the dual bearing carriers myself to find the same issue. Mine came either mounting bolts and spacers though except the spacers were 1/4" to long, LOL. I just made new spacers for about $5 at lowes and its all good. I used a 1" steel spacer with 2 nuts on the end to lock everything down nice and tight and its a 1 1/2" Metric 8x1.25 bolt. Hope that helps you out! Edit: Mine is the RAD Twin Row Carrier Edited April 17, 2008 by Dick Wheels Quote

Edit: Mine is the RAD Twin Row Carrier Thanks man that does help a lot because that is exactly how mine looks cept mine is a taper carrier, well looks like that's how they're made... Spose I'll just have to make some spacers. Have you ever had any problems with using spacers and how long have you been running the carrier, because all my experience with things like that is for brakes and whatnot they need to be pretty solidly supported.. just want to know if spacers are good enough support. Dick Wheels Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 I haven't had a chance to even ride my shee yet. I bought it and it was a disaster. I put the new carrier on and a new gforce axle. New trinity 2 into 1 intake and 34mm keihin pj and new modded shift star. Right now I have the clutch cover off cause the shifter had like 2 inches of play in it to find there was a broken bolt. Once I get it back together here soon it'll be riding time. I don't see where the spacer will be a problem as long as you use a good bolt and everything it tight so there is no play. Mine came with a spacer but it was 1/4" to long so I made that one. Ill certainly let you know when I get it going if it holds up though. Good luck and your welcome Quote
Loki Posted April 22, 2008 Author Report Posted April 22, 2008 K I figured out the spacers and what not now I just need to find the size of the wave washer.. Anyone use a taper carrier I need to know the dim/s for the washer that they supply with it. Quote
