crustydemon Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Does anyone besides Motion Pro make a good 2 stroke leakdown tester? Looking for a little cheaper one that comes with all the plugs. Quote
crustydemon Posted April 12, 2008 Author Report Posted April 12, 2008 I might just do that. I guess I could use my mighty vac pump. Thanks for the pics. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 This is my friend at RB Porting, Bob...this kit is nice and cheap. I know the picture only shows one part of it...it is the WHOLE kit, I assure you. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Banshee-Pre...sspagenameZWD1V Quote

badassbanshee479 Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 the rb testr is nice, or you can build one your self. Remember you want to pressurize the crank case, not put it in a vacuum. 6psi for 6min and your good to go! Quote

Is 6 min really enough? Quote
crustydemon Posted April 12, 2008 Author Report Posted April 12, 2008 Yeah thats good, Thank you. It sure beats paying a couple hundred bucks for the same thing. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 yeah. thats all I use on mine, 6psi for 6min. dont go over 6 psi or you can risk blowing out the crank seals!! if it is leaking spray it with soapy water! leave the flywheel and clutch cover off so you can spray the crank seals. also check the key way where the crank drive gear rides. seen um leak there too! I always put alittle sealer on the key way before i install the drive gear and the water pump drive gear. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 It is ok if it loses less than 1PSI per minute....but no more than that. generally...if you have a leak...it'll leak right away like letting air out of the tires. When I pressurized my 4 mil, I used soapy water and the left side base gasket was blowin bubbles big time!! Quote
rubberneck Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Just FYI for anybody looking to do a cub. I got this tip off PS. I had to lightly chamfer the outside edge of my cylinder because it was hitting the case where it flares out ot meet the clutch cover. My cylinder would not go all the way down and sit flush on the cases. It barely interfered, but it would have caused sealing issues. I know i am not probably making sense, but here is a pic which may clear it up a bit, its the lip on the far left of this pic Basically the cub cylinder is wider than the stockers and you may need to clearance ever so slightly to get it to clear the case on each side. Clear as Mud Quote
dajogejr Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 I haven't had that specific problem with my 4 or 10 mil on two different set of cases. However... I always get a sanding block and sand the deck to make sure it's flat. My 10 mil was fine, but my 4 mil had a nice dip in the center of it as a result of the media/sand blasting from Millenium. a minute on the sanding block fixed that... Quote
rubberneck Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Yeah, that is a good tip too. I put a straight edge on mine and it looked good. Like I said, some may not have problems, I just had somebody warn me about it and when I checked sure enough with the cylinders pushed all the way down, they werent seating properly. Hopefully it will help somebody else out. Quote
