I see they have the gaskets on their webpage but it bothers me to pay $10 for shipping when its going to cost them less than a buck. Can I use the Yamabond? Quote

The gaskets that were on this cover weren't like the oem. They are paper gaskets and therer are two of them. Do you think he'll have those, I'll try to get a hold of him. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Don't use yamabond unless you don't plan on taking it off again, without a hammer... I have a two piece, billet plate cover. I use RTV just to keep the dust/dirt out of the ignition. You'll be fine. Quote

I'm going to use the rubber one and then put some of that RTV on the smaller piece. :thumbsup: Thats for tomorrow. Todays project was removing the carrier from the axle :ohmy: OMG, which consisted of running my axle into a tree with my truck. What a BIATCH! Quote

The hardening type (5000) or did you possbily have an alzheimer's moment and use your denture adhesive instead? :biggrin: Quote

My buddy made me come over and remove the cover... when he had my engine on his bench. Maybe all that hot air over in Oregon removes some if it's bonding qualities... lol Quote

Maybe all that hot air over in Oregon removes some if it's bonding qualities... lol There are two kinds of Yamabond: 4000 and 5000. I believe the 5000 is hardening and 4000 is semi-hardening. The 4000 is the way to go........... either that or some other type of anerobic sealer. Quote
