vwyamaha
I took apart the top end on my kx 125 today to do the top end. when I got down to the piston I came to the lovely realization that theres about a quarter inch of play in the rod (side to side). It doesnt twist but side to side. Soooo my question is: Is this normal? which it probably isnt so my next question is whats the damage to my pocket. Do I need a new rod and bearing, a new crank etc.
Bansh-eman
its normal to have play for side to side but not normal for it to be 1/4 in. how old is the motor? might be time to rebuild it.
vwyamaha
its a 94, i dont no if its a quarter inch but not much less. If i ran it like this for a bit is it going to be more expensive to fix later?
Bansh-eman
it wont be any more expensive as long as the crank doesnt let loose. you can buy a used stock crank for next to nothing. id just replace it and be safe if it has as much play as you say it does.
