CBAIER1206 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 So I am in the process of installing my 421 cheetah cub setup...The case is apart and I put new seals on everything, installed the new crankshaft, port matched the top of the case to match the transfers on the cub cylinder, cleaned the surfaces of the case on both sides where I am to use that yamabond gasket shit... My question is this, clymers says to coat both cases and then assemble, is there any particular area that I should pay more attention to that might be suspect to getting an air leak? Any little tips or secrets that the book doesn't cover? Any help is greatly appreciated... Quote
NitroTate Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Not really any places more than others, rather be careful not to get it too thick that it ends up dripping down inside the cases when you put them together. I smear it on with a small flathead scredriver on both sides nice and thin and the assemble. My .02 Quote

Why don't you apply the Yamabond like everyone suggests & get yourself the fittings required to do a leak down test. After the engine is assembled, but before mounting in frame, you can test it then. This will tell you how well sealed it is. If there are any air leaks, this will expose them... Quote
