inthemail Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 im going to be diesel washing my cases tonight, but i noticed this. if you notice, on the left side there is a spot where NO DIRT OR GREASE have accumulated. there is an indentation inside the case where the crank bearing seats. this spot was always wet with an oily substance when i ran the bike and i figured it was just a pool of oil from a bad clutch gasket, however its not. could the indentation under teh crank bearing possibbly be leaking through the case bottom? i dont want to buy a new lower case but ill be sending it to jeff for porting. is there any ideas on how to fix this so its not happening anymore? sheerider1026 Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 sounds like the yamabond didn't seal around that stud, and tranny oil may have seeped its way though and drain down?? u think?? thats all i can think of on that dude. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 hey by the way!!, i can powdercoat those cases for you if you are interested.. later, gary Quote
inthemail Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Posted February 28, 2008 well, the tranny oil is all contained on the left side. ther is no stud there in that recess. aaaand i just bought a pc gun so ill be coatin em myself  thanks anyone else ever have this problem? Quote
sheerider1026 Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 yea man, sorry about that!! i am a dumbass tonight. now i see that it is on the stator side. duh. lol man i am not sure what would cause that.. i wouldn't worry about it if it were me.. just get everything clean and use some good sealer for the cases, not too much and not too little.. i guess if some oozes out it won't hurt.. although i have heard of stories were yamabond ate up some crank bearings. not sure if that is true but i have heard it.. good luck on the powdercoating to man, i am planning in building a sanblasting room in my shop, it will be a fully enclosed wood structure with lighting, ventilation, and all. then i am also working on a big oven.. later, gary Quote

Thats premix that has seeped out of the crank chamber. There are 3 or 4 holes in the bottom case half that are filled with somekind of epoxy. The epoxy deteriorates over time. Jeff will fix those if you send them to him. If not fixed now, it will definately create an air leak and eventually ruin your engine. Quote
