omalavet Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 i notice that my clutch is old i bought the new ones OEM i just dont now how to replace them any help?? Quote
dajogejr Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Clymers manual.... Basically have to remove the right side cover (foot peg, kick start, etc. just to get to it.) Drain the fluid, radiator...etc. A clymers manual will not only have detailed instructions, but torque specs and pictures as well. Quote
J-Madd Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 If you don't have manual, just take the clutch apart and assemble it exactly the same. With the oem clutch the steel plates have tabs that have to be spread out from each other, not sure exactly how much, though. (e.g. line a tab up at 12:00, 2:00, 4:00...etc). Also...don't overtighten the clutch bolts...and most importantly don't forget to line up the clutch actuator on the case with the arrow on the case. If you don't know what that means, we'll explain it when you get that far in the installation. Quote
dajogejr Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Yes...DO NOT overtighten the 6 hold down bolts. 7.5 ft. lbs, yes...7 and a half, is all you need. They will snap off much tighter than that. You rotate the tabs on the 3's. So, 12 o clock, 3...6, etc. Quote
RadarRacing Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Then dont forget to adjust your clutch while apart. Ford type aft fluid is what I run in the trans. It's really very simple to do yourself without a book. Quote
