Hi everyone im new here so this is my first post. Please i hope u can help me figure out whats up with my shee. I really want to ride but cant do so without brakes. heres my first problem. My back brakes just wont work for me. The caliber mounting bracket is hitting the rotor. I put on a new one but that didnt fix it. Also the caliber is about half an inch away from the mounting point on the axle. If iwas to put it on and tighten it up it would bend my rotortowards the center of the bike. am i missing spacers or something. i looked in the manual and on here through numerous post but cant piece it together. Then my other prob is my front brakes. I just put on new old styler calibers cause i have an 87 and used the newer brake lines. is that a prob. These have a banjo bolt while the look like they just screwed in. Im pretty competent with tools and such but man this ones im leavin for the experts which would be u guys. Thanks alot bansheehq i hope u guys can help the new guy out

in all honesty face i havent been ridin for awhile. theres a pretty wide variety of stuff to ride on. im my region its mostly old coal mining areas. lots of hill climbs but theres other terrain navigate. my last bike was an rm80 whew how fast lol. ive been ridin all my life just now gettin back into it again. im 24 now and havent been hardcore ridin in bout 8 to 10 years so i cant wait to rip it up again. my bike seems to rip pretty good so im happy just got to find a way to stop now.

With your back brakes. Make sure that it is free one the pins. The ones that it slides on. If it has seized up with the old pads, being that they were probably worn out it why it is off alignment. If it doesn't move side to side, that is the problem there. Didn't read close enough to comment on your front brakes. Hop this helps.

bingo i believe u r on thr right track. i tried earlier and believe the same as u. should the caliber bracket ur talkin bout sit flush with the piston or stick out to where the pistons is. its hard to explain i know. i tried to take the caliber apart where the pins are but the bolt is stripped to hell. it is bolted isnt it. it definately dont move side to side when its unbloted. how do i take it apart or unsezeit. also i have new pads if it matters but it slides right on the rotor just the caliber cant bolt to the carrier cause the rotor is spaced about half inch away

If i'm not mistaken, the top bolt is an allen head that goes all the way through. And the bottom bolt is hex head on the inside, but you don't need to remove that one. If you get the top one out, it slides off the bottom bolt/pin. It's been a while for me having that apart. But it was a pain to get it apart. But keep at it and it will come apart. Good luck.
