which carbs should i get for my 4mm rz motor to run it on alcohol?

are mikuni tmx the ones to get, do they have the power jets?

which carbs do FTZ use for their alcohol carb package? i noticed that FTZ gas carbs are $440 a set, and FTZ alcohol carbs are like $660, why are they so much dearer, what do they do to them?

i would have thought that you could just get the regular carbs, and change the dump tube, needle and jets to suit alcohol?

oh yeah im also lookin at bigger bowls and a pulse pump.

any info greatly appreciated!

thanks, mark

I've had good luck with keihin pwks you should be good with a 35-39mm pwk.

you have to either have a shop set them up for alky with includes drilling them, installing the power jets and a few other odds and ends or you can do it your self if ya know how.

Jeff over at fast has a lot of experience with alky conversions and he has the carbs and everything you need at his place.

how far are you gonna be running? I run a pingle valve and bigger bowels on my 4 mill cub and I have not had any problems running out of fuel.

If money is no issue, call up Dennis Packard at Packard Ent.

Get Lectrons... Once you understand how they work, they are the best carb I've ever used....

PWKs are a nice choice, don't get me wrong...but for a few bucks more Packard Lectrons are the shit!

They are not as finicky for temp changes/altitude changes, they are easer to adjust, no more jets. Just a needle to twist to richen/lean the mixture and a power jet to add more fuel/less fuel mid to peak RPMs.

Even on the ice, butt ass cold weather, my bike starts first kick on Methanol once it's been started for the day....

The only thing I had to adjust on mine was open the power jet more because we went from running 300 feet to over 600 feet, it was running out of fuel on the top end.

The key to Lectrons is getting the right needle for it, also called a metering rod!

Plan on spending 550 to 800 bucks for a set depending on if you want billet bowls, the size of the carb, etc. You'll also need Packard's throttle cable too, which is a rebuildable work of art!!!
