Slasher99 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 What you guys think? Time for a rebuild? Its seems to run ok but I'm going to be taking out to St. Anthony dunes in Idaho in the summer for 10 days. So i figure sooner is better than later. Last thing i want to be doing is a motor rebuild while all my buddies are out on the dunes. I live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada Edmonton elevation: 668 m (2,192 ft) 100PSI on one, 85PSI on the other.... Its been rebuilt once by a previous owner so i have no idea what the cylinder bore is at right now. Can anybody recommend a rebuilt kit. I was thinking wiseco obviously. Shaun Quote

Shaun Two ways to look at that... You're up a little in elevation...I'd expect stock compression to be roughly 115PSI at your elevation...but, your cylinders are more than 10% difference from each other. If you're going on a 10 day ride, yeah...I would. chances are it could run like a raped ape the whole time...but, you have this much notice, it still runs and is not blown up... You could probably get them bored if needed and a fresh top end kit for under 250 and have a fresh motor and fresher piece of mind. If it was a quick day or short weekend trip, I'd run it. 10 days on a long trip with this much time in advance notice...yeah, I'd freshen her up!!! Quote
jcbanshee Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Wow, thats crazy. I have never heard about comprssion under 90. I would go for the rebuild before the 10 trip to. Quote
