TexasBansheeMan Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 OWTF!! Ok now i am scared! I got my shit kinda fixed, Took some Fine ass files and cleaned up the rotor and the Pick up, I got spark!! Shut her off finished putting her together, fired her up and eased down the street. Took it easy through the gears for about 1/2 mile turned around rolled out in 2nd and pinned her Sky ward we went grabed 3rth no clutch still pulln snaged 4th and the front is still a foot off the groung we are Lovely!!! Then POP POW CHUGGA CHUGGA WHISSSSSSSS DEAD IN THE WATER!!! WHAT THE F ? So I push her home the last 1/4 mile and get her to the house. I pulled the plugs Right side DRY, Left Side Semi WET were used plugs so I cant say Lean or fat. Changed the plugs and it wont start! What gives? I got spark and gas so It should Fire Unless Something Is MAJOR RIGHT? I DONT HAVE A COMPRESSION TESTER BUT IT STILL FEELS THE SAME AS IT DID BEFORE THE TEAR DOWN. i CHANGED THE CLUTCH ROD. Thats it. And Moved the Clip to the top grove from the middle It was way fat on bottom. 30 mm oko's 52 slow 160 main Dyno jet needle from my stock carbs. What should I do? I also put in 19cc cool head domes down from 22cc. Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 I dont know what else to do at this point. I have moved the Needle clip backto the 3rd ring, and it has Spark. but just pops a hisssses? wtf? Quote
sheerider1026 Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 hey man try this.. u said the flywheel hit the pickup real hard right??(i think it was you that hadd that problem) i would defiantely pull the flywheel off to see if u sheared the key(woodruff key they call it.. if so it will spark but is not sparking at the right time( like being way outta time) i had a kx500 dirtbike that did that once.. i would almost lay money that is whats wrong with it.. TexasBansheeMan Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 I will bet so! I found som small alum. shavings in the bottom of the cover. My timing plat is billett. So I bet It spit the Key. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 yep i would bet also.. and the way its running it ounds like it also... if u have compression, fuel, and spark it should run. 2 strokes are as simple as that.. i bet it ate the key.. let me know ehn u check it out.. got me curious now. just let me know if thats whats wrong with it.. where u at in texas? my girl is from the big T. kawiking Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 check your key, make sure it didnt mess up the groove in the crank or flywheel... make sure your timing plate didnt come loose either. my buddies flywheel smacked a stotor pic up and made its spark but not run. Quote

TexasBansheeMan Posted January 1, 2008 Author Report Posted January 1, 2008 ok well the Key got spit went round and round on the timing plate, No major damage. Got it fixed Went donw the street played for a few min. Then same song! got it fixed made it 100 feet and the fly wheel backed out! Whats the best way to Tighten the nut on the flywheel With out opening up the clutch? or can I? I am going to the auto parts tomorrow to see if they have a new key, I weld on the side in my free time, What would be wrong with welding the key into the slot? Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 are u tightening the flywheel nut with an impact?? it is a must to tighten it with a impact,, the key doesnt hole the flywheel when spinning.. the taper of the crankshaft is what locks the flywheel in place, the keyway just keeps it lined up.. also the shaft and flywheel should be grease and oil free.. i would not suggest welding it.. if you are just tightening it without a impact you are waisting your time.. it will definately shear the key like that.. Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted January 1, 2008 Author Report Posted January 1, 2008 I have no impact so I gota us a breakover bar it get tight enough My key was worn already So it kust spits it out. The nut is still tight as can be. I just got a new key so I am going to fix it 1 last time to see what the deal is. Quote
shanYE west Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 are u tightening the flywheel nut with an impact?? it is a must to tighten it with a impact,, the key doesnt hole the flywheel when spinning.. the taper of the crankshaft is what locks the flywheel in place, the keyway just keeps it lined up.. also the shaft and flywheel should be grease and oil free.. i would not suggest welding it.. if you are just tightening it without a impact you are waisting your time.. it will definately shear the key like that.. Actually your not "supposed" to use a impact.. though many people do. I use a 3/8 torq wrench and a flywheel holder and torq it to spec (58 ft. lbs). I've never had a problem with the nuts spining off. I usually put a small amount of loctite on there also.. just some extra insurance. Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted January 2, 2008 Author Report Posted January 2, 2008 Shes jamed up tight now! I put a lock nut on it and tightened it to speck. No more problems! Thanks guys. Quote
