Ok i have a yfz450 front end(shocks and a-arms) on my shee. It's the NON-SE shocks. I wieght about 155ish with my gear on if not a little less. I would like to know if you guys can recommend some shock settings to get the damn buck out of my front end.

 

the type of riding i do consist of no jumping. I just play around on trails, whoops, donuts, drag race. When on the trails i find the front is too stiff and wants to buck.

 

Im debating going with a set of arms/shocks made for the shee, this 450 front makes the front wide, nice and low but it sure isnt plush!

BTW i can care less how low it is.

i think the only way to make it less stiff would be to send the shocks out to gt thunder and have their dual rate kit installed and have them revalve for your weight... i have messed with everything on the yfz shocks and there is nothing i have found to make them softer.

a big problem with that setup is that the front end is so low it doesnt really allow for much suspension travel before your belly is bottoming out on the ground, think about it, you have about half the travel in which to control the bumps/whoops that a banshee with proper a-arms and shocks built for it has, the banshee suspension travel is already limited enough by its geometry, by lowering it down like that, and makin it sit liek 5 inches off the ground, you dont have a whole lot of travel to absorb bumps before the frame is hitting ground, i would either get longer shocks, or ditch the whole setup and get some a arms and shocks built for it, those 450 front ends may look cute, but they dont function well, i lined up mine with zach45's front end, and with regular +2 arms, mine is just as wide as the 450 front end, but sits up high enough to have some suspension travel

i read a lot before i bought these and i've never seen anyone with my problem. this sucks. What a waste of my $450. Well, time to put them for sale...

 

edit* i agree MJ, it's just no one really mentioned that back before i bought them. My fault though i guess. People probably mentioned it but i didnt see it. ah well. I will ditch these and get some regular cheap +2 arms and some cheap shocks and be done with it. My rear is already resprung/valved for my weight.

yea get yourself some normal +2's and some cheap works shocks built for you, i picked up some triple rate at steelers, with remote rez's fdor under $600, couldnt be happier, they ride awesome and let you ride 10 times more agressive than before, and you dont have to worry about your belly bottoming out on everything,

is that the thing the wheels go on? if so, no. It doesnt matter though, that wouldnt help. The shocks/shock travel is the problem. im getting rid of them.

i have no problem bottoming out... MJ what are you doing, nose diving your landings.Your putting it into perspective that when you hit every little bump your automatally gonna bottom out. and according to your post when i posted up my shee with mx wheels and tires you said it had like 6 inches of clearance, even tho it has more than that. i'm just stating. my opinion.. I do the exact same riding as rajun cagun and i have never bottomed out my front end. i ride balls to the wall. I have the complete front end splindles and brakes and the whole nine yards... i think its a great setup if you want to save some money.

The problem i have is the ride is rough, very rough. It's way to stiff. Ground clearance isntt he issue here. Bottoming out isnt a concern because i dont jump.

no im not "nose diving" my landings.. i dont even own a 450 front end,nor would i ever.,not on a banshee.. put it this way.. if you had shocks with any actual plushness, you WOULD be bottoming out your frame definatley.. you must have the preload cranked down so tight they hardley move... if you ride trails, and have that low 450 front end, i dont see any way you wouldnt be botoming out, unless you slow down to 10 mph over all the ruts/rocks/whoops, and even using it in MX, which would be nuts, you wouldnt have any travel, because your frame is 5-6 inches off the ground,, so if your suspension travels any farther than that, your frame is gona hit the ground, how you gona land a big jump on 5-6 inches of suspension travel? and a very harsh 5-6 inches at that..

Why are you trying to give your so called "opionion" when you don't even have the front end. Do you even know how much 5 inches is? what do you do, slow down to a stop for a little bump? last time i checked when you jump a big jump you dont flat land it you either have a landing ramp or slightly on the back wheels... why don't you learn how to ride and then come back and post up your results.... and rajun cajan you can soften them up its either the screw at the bottom of the shock or on the ressy... i forget which one it is...
