wrx600rr Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 ok, before you tell me I have already used the search button! To many people giving too many diff. answers. I am fairly new to the banshee, my first quad was a 03 blaster with oil injector so no premix was needed! I then sold that after about 3 months and bought a 400ex, had the stealership put a pipe on it and jet it and called it good! So I am not much of a mechanic, bare with me I just bought an 02 banshee with a motor that was bored .20 over, has new wiseco pistons, new top end bearings, new top end gasket kit, and has had TORS bypass kit installed! The bike also has brand new fmf fatty pipes (gold series) on it. Also I know he was using JP2 synthetic oil with the gas! I have a couple quick questions before I go to silver lake on the last weekend of this month. I know all the above work was done on 7/18/07 and has only about 5 hrs of use on this setup. But I would like to know what I should be mixing my safely, I would rather run rich than lean right?? So I understand that 32:1 is pretty much 4 ounces of oil to every gallon of gas?? Is that right? Also I was thinking of changing the transmission fluid before we go to silver lake, what is the best transmission fluid to use in my setup? And is the JP2 synthetic oil good stuff? Sorry if I sound like a newbie, but I am! Nick Quote

Nick Depends on the qualitly of oil, a yamalube for example you should run about 20-32:1, higher quality oils Id run 32-40:1 (klotz, maxima) This isnt stamped, just a suggestion. I use bel ray gearsaver for about 12-15 hours in the tranny. I dont know what JP2 is, but once you run synthetic, your only supposed to run synthetic. Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 32:1 is 4 ounces of oil to every gallon of gas. for me thats rich but thats what most do. better safe then sorry. i mix 50:1 AMSoil DOMINATOR Synthetic 2-Cycle Racing Oil. its lean but my shee loves it and i use Maxima 80wt tranny oil 1 1/2 quarts. your going to get different brands from different riders with different ratios. I know nothing about JP2 synthetic oil so i cant comment. Quote

RoostRocket Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Ratio rite cup! I ran 32:1 with the maxim oil, and 80w maxim tranny lube. exactly, ratio rites are awesome. i run castor 927 50:1. also engine ice definetly helps too. congrats on the buy!!! Quote
sredish Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 this is the best thing you can buy, a Maxima mixing bottle. it's like a ratio-rite but with a cap so it doesn't have dirt sticking and getting nasty and it's smaller so it's easier to pack. Another nice thing is if you already have some fuel mixed, you can just put the necessary oil in the bottle and take it with you ready to mix, then on the road when you get more fuel or need to mix more, you can add it in. http://www.maximausa.com/products/misc/mixbottle.asp Quote

wrx600rr Posted September 21, 2007 Author Report Posted September 21, 2007 I just picked up a few things and, a maxima mixing bottle (best $4.25 I have spent yet) and some bel ray 2 stroke synthetic oil (ouch! $18.95 a quart) oh well, the salesman at the dealership recommended this brand as he has 2 shee's! I contacted the guy I bought the bike from in regards to the transmission fluid, he said he just uses the type f cheap-o tranny fluid from wal-mart! Is this ok? he said alot of people use it! Should I change it before I go on my weekend trip to silver lake? Nick Quote
